WHAT IF?

What if? Jorbtar left Hafen? would you try to take over their work or just leave it like you dumped shit in the woods?
Also, do you think such a thing will happen?

Would I PERSONALLY attempt to continue there work? Depends on if I legally could or if they'd hoard the concept and sell it in a jewish fashion, instead of dumping it as a shareware.

Do I think such a thing would happen? Well, maybe, if they don't feel motivated or they lose passion for their product, they might, it comes down to if they care or not, money isn't an issue if you're passionate, you find a way.

(not saying they don't need money, but someone who is truely motivated and WANTS to make their art will do it at the cost of their own life, up until they simply cant do it anymore or until they lose that passion)

I'm not really smart as much as I am analytical. I've had dealings with shareware and abandoned projects in the past -Cough cough- Towns -Cough Cough-, And you can only go so far to finish someone's old work before they start suing you for it and putting up a cease and desist because it isn't YOUR project to work on.

Call it a hunch but I don't see Jorbtar losing faith in their work if the community has gotten this small over the years and they're still actively working on it, even if they're living off of Ramen and Rice.

And I definitely don't see them just dumping the game out for shareware, it's their baby, they've worked hard on it, and they don't want to see it torn to shreds by people like me, who'd change the original vision of what they had in mind. It's a personal thing. If they didn't care, they'd dump it for free development, but they obviously do care.

Someday they will have to stop developing hafen as thye die of old age at least.
Hopefully they will either sell HnH or make it open source before they die though.

I think jorbtar family dynasty will take up development works after this passing of souls.

Look at all the MUDs over the years. Some have been passed on with a caretaker promise only, others have been hoarded tightly to the chest and anyone wanting to create a legacy for it have had to start from scratch.

Even if they have to work 60 hours a week as a lawyer and engineer respectively, they'll still find time to work on Haven, I think.
Opinions expressed in this statement are the authors alone and in no way reflect on the game development values of the actual developers.
