Poutine

Postby Jesus_Smith_Nandez » Thu Jul 28, 2016 11:05 pm

I have been asking around with friends and am surprised to hear many people of America and especially other places have no idea what this glorious food is, so I thought I would spread awareness.

Basic overview, it is French Fries with cheese curds, which are covered in gravy. Ideally the gravy is hot enough to melt the curds onto the fries.

Here (Canada) almost all fast food chains (even American ones) will sell this item. There are even specific restaurants for it, with specialty poutines with different ingredients and gravies. It is also very easy to make home made with your own gravy.

There are some who don't like it but it is generally a very popular item all over and is one of my favourites.

So I ask, have you even heard of this food before now? Would you be willing to try it?

I have heard of Poutine but I don't really even know what it looks like, I think it has cheese on it.
But if you come to Finland you should try this, its cheese and probably tastes way better.

hmm.. get rid of the curd and gravy, and replace with mayonnaise and satay sauce (Indonesian recipe, kind off peanut butter sauce).. and you get the glorious "Patatje Oorlog" which roughly translates into "french fries war"

Image

however I prefer French fries with mayonnaise, union and curry sauce..

and than of course it need to be accompanied by some meat products

sadly I live abroad from the Netherlands so I can not indulge too often in these treats :-(

People make fun of Americans for eating unhealthy. This looks lethal.
“We still, alas, cannot forestall it-
This dreadful ailment's heavy toll;
The spleen is what the English call it,
We call it simply, Russian soul.”

An idea to consider: Tedium, a Feature.
