That's the usual way, yep

If it's a small area you can also use a sling and just keep popping down and going back up the minehole after each shot

Do trolls spawn on the tile you mined or near it? I've been getting super paranoid recently every time I mine on layer 3 or 4 because I'm not sure how trolls spawn and if one will spawn. My character only has like 308HP (98 con) so if a trolled spawned right in front of me, I'm not sure I would survive a hit or two to escape.

By the way, when the troll spawned did you lose the character that mined the trigger node to spawn it or were you lucky and you survived a hit/didn't get it aggroed?

It'll spawn in the empty space of the tile you just mined out and it'll likely fuck your face

Essentially, yeah. However I took my Archer and a newb alt, took the newb alt, went down in the mine and lured the troll pretty far away, hit the troll, ran back up, wait for it to de-aggro, go back down and hit it again.

Rinse and Repeat, once the troll gets too close to the ladder, create another alt and lure it away.

In the end, I ended up with a dead alt "thriller" army lawl

Have you tried that after the patch? They seems to wreck 1500+ stat chars.
