The Worldwide Expedition

So I've been gone from the game for a while, checking in on the updates but not really logging in. It comes to no surprise then, that when I did log back in I found my village stripped clean of everything even remotely useful. But I've decided to try a thing - circumnavigate the world, see the sights, have a couple of adventures and ideally not end up on a spike or as a cup for one of the more... friendly folks of the Hearthlands.

This thread will serve as a kind of poorly written journal for my travelings, for whoever wants to read it. Or use it to track me down and murder me, either one is possible.

Day 914 - Valgarde Harbour
Waking from what seemed like an eternity, I looked around the pitch black of the mines. Hit by another rock. Again! Rubbing my sore head, I stumbled towards the cave exit. The wind blew at my hair, it was good to be back above ground. But something was not right! It was warm, by the looks of it mid summer! That couldn't be right, there's no way I was down there for an entire season!

Walking around the cliff and to the gate, the homestead came into sight. Valgarde, once proud and beautiful, now lay in a state of disrepair, the walls battered and banners tattered. Hearthlings are an opportunistic bunch, and they surely didn't waste any time carting away the chests and cupboards of goods, even the crops and livestock. But, there was at least some good news; the inner walls were still standing, seemingly looked over by the looters.

The walls could be rebuilt surely, but perhaps this was an opportunity in disguise. For as long as I've been in these lands, I've heard plenty of stories but never actually been far from home. I had always wanted to leave everything behind and go on a journey, but the homestead kept me busily tied down working on it. But now, that excuse was gone. I decided then, I would set off at once.

I will say that I regret moving most of the things out of that walled area though, as there was only a few scraps compared to what there had once been. Old tools mostly, from when the place was first settled. Collecting everything in the cart, I headed to the bay. It was a good spot, hidden and away from prying eyes. The knarr would likely still be there, and it was.

Uttering a quick thanks, I loaded my meager provisions into the boat and took a quick stock of what there was.
-Various metal tools
-A barrel of wine and barley
-Several herbalists tables and pots
-Anvil, meatgrinder and cauldron
-The fanciest of thrones
-Chests with various things, though mostly empty.
-My most prized posession, the lute.

Setting off, I got one last look of my old home before rounding the bend and setting sail on the lake.

Progress was made quickly, for I had long traveled these waters, but I soon came upon unknown areas. Opting to rest until morning lest I get lost, I found a old camp by the river that looked mighty inviting after a long trip.

It took longer than expected to get the camp set up, and by the time I was finished it was nearly morning! Perhaps I had become too accustomed to the home living, always having a bed ready for when you returned from a trip. But enough of that! One song before the end of the day.

Wow, that was waay longer than I thought. Hopefully the updates will be shorter. I want to know what you guys think about it. Too larpy? Not enough pictures? Do you want to see more, or is reading about some sprucecap cruising around too boring?

Also if there's any songs you'd like to hear in Haven for some god awful reason, send me them midis. Ideally nothing too high or low so I don't have to edit them. Jorb, I need a piano or something, man! Oh, and one last thing before I stop rambling. My old place is up for grabs to whoever finds it, it's in the Kingdom of Vidarrheim, and has a pali, some mansions and a L3 mine, otherwise it's pretty empty. Keys are in a box at the SE gate.

Your knarr is hideous. Where are you? So I may crush you with my superior Gary Knarr™.

This dreadful ailment's heavy toll;
The spleen is what the English call it,
We call it simply, Russian soul.”

An idea to consider: Tedium, a Feature.

It's time to strike the earth!

Day 917 - Camp Dorf

It's been a long day on the waters now, and unfortunately, as it is hard to write while steering such a large, ugly ship, I didn't take very many notes or sketches until I reached camp. But nothing too out of the ordinary happened on my way through the Kingdom of Fire & Ice. Though I met a young hearthling somewhat close to where I settled in for the night. Now, "meet" might not be the best word; I saw him, he saw me and ran into the woods before I could even utter a "hello". I hope he was just startled or else I'd start thinking I'm ugly.
Image

Anyways, I left him a message, maybe I'll see him again before I leave. Ah yes, that brings me to my current camp. I found a pretty great location with a palisade and tower, so I feel relatively safe to stay a few days and get some much needed supplies. Long into the night I worked mining, smelting and smithing until I finally had all the tools I needed, plus a few creature comforts.
Image

While the ores were smelting I decided to make some beer and wine, as everything I needed was there. It'll be a while before it's ready to drink, but it's something to look forward to. Now all I need is for the hides to dry so I can make a new shield. Until then, it's time to kick up my feet and relax.

Well, that's all for this update. I'll be posting a map with my route in another few, once I'm farther away. Thanks to whoever left me the moose, though you did steal my fancy chair soooo... 10/10 would trade again.
