General Haven & Hearth system requiroments?

Postby dunno6988 » Wed Dec 07, 2016 12:54 am

Has anyone checked or would know what would be the minimum/required system requirements.
Like the most general stuff, unless the devs release the current version system requirements.
And I am talking about the default client with everything turned on to the max on video settings.

GTX MSI 1090
I7 5000
9000watt battery

These are the main parts to run such a demanding video game as Haven & Hearth.

Best you will get it 12 fps.

I guess something like dual core cpu, vga that support the shader thing and 4gigs of ram (speaking of desktop computers)
Notebooks require more modern stuff, other than the desktop i have a 2011 notebook and it run pretty well but to have stable FPS i need to turn off shadows.

Probably, but not guaranteed, something like this (minimum):

Processor: AMD/INTEL DUAL-CORE 2.5 GHZ
Memory: 4096 MB di RAM
Graphics: Nvidia GeForce GT 4xx , Radeon HD 5xxx
Java Version 8

Are you sure about 2.5 GHZ?
Even though with my windows 8.1 default video settings run pretty smoothly, but with everything turned on and maxed out the 16x forgot the terminology for the bottom option I have a glitch while walking almost every 2-3 seconds especially exploring new areas. The screen keeps jumping when my character walks.
But without shadows the game doesn't look right.

Yeah more or less a 2.5 GHZ dual core desktop cpu should run the game. (my notebook is 2.0 GHZ, but 4 cores)
My desktop pc is an overkill for this game, i7 4771, gtx 970... but still i have some stuttering ( even if since the last update it's improved a lot), most of all when loading new areas (exploring).
But this is not an hardware issue, it's related to the optimization of the engine, that's pretty new....i'm sure slowly Loftar will improve it more and more.
Also to note that it can also depends on the brand of your components, some could run better than others even if less powerfull...and also the server side seems related in some way with the map loading, etc..
It's a small game, not a AAA game....so, right now after the last update my stuttering issues are decreased a lot and i'm very happy about it.

P:S. What i mean is you cannot pretend an engine optimization like AAA games having only one coder.

Smells like a problem with java garbage collection blocking while claning up.
You could try to increase the max-heap-size parameters in autohaven.jnlp (-Xms and -Xmx parameters in custom clients .bat).

Using cpu ghz as a measurement of cpu performance is utterly dumb.

Processor speed has been a meaningless metric since the early 90s. We've had over 3GHz dual core processors since 2005, and those will struggle to run the game a lot more than a modern 1.5GHz processor. We hit the effective frequency barrier of current silicon gate switching ~15 years ago, so clock speeds haven't increased since. The game also doesn't even saturate two threads iirc, so there should be no difference as you add more parallelism past two physical cores.

Free cores for the garbage collector :D (joking, btw i really hope it uses separate cores)
I was just saying that an average cpu from 2008-2010 with an average vga from 2010-2012 should run the game no problem. It's only an indication.

I get 60 fps just barely@1080p with shadows turned on (no anti aliasing). My laptop has an i5 6200u and a gtx 950m. A desktop equivalence of this would be an i3/gtx 750. I wouldn't recommend anything less than that, as I just barely hit 60 fps with this. To run some anti aliasing aswell you'd probably need atleast a 950 depending on what resolution/what type of aa.
