My friend is dead

Postby Flyrella » Mon Dec 19, 2016 10:18 pm

So, I moved in with my friend and we started a new settlement. He had quite nice stats and actively traded, so we had very nice q animals/crops. I was only farming/feeding animals and helping with the plot.
Yesterday I logged in and found that my friend's dead body was in the middle of our plot and also, there is an unknown person staying on the hearthfire. It looks like he is offline (when I chat, I cant send a message) but I can see that char even today. Also, there are traces of thief and vandalism but just a few.

The palisade doesn't have any holes but there is possibility to enter the village through the cave (it is not surraunded yet since we dont have anything on the plot yet and we just started working on it. I am afraid to login with my main to farm and animals will start starving soon. Also, Idk if my friend was killed for example by a troll when mined and just created a new char which he could not add to the village since he was dead and that is why there are traces. Also, he doesn't answer my pm so I am afraid he might have quitted :( Also, we have quite good things like high q tools and animals and some precious metals but nothing was stolen which probably supports my hypothesis.

What should I do? I am not sure I should make a nidbane since it just might be my friend's alt but Idk.

Hey mate. Your friend was killed. Attack and kill the guy just standing there because he isn't online. He killed your friend making his character not be able to actually log out. Just kill him and build a wall in your mine..

but what is the reason to stay there? He would go to his own place, if that was someone else.

Whoa whoa, I wouldn't say there's enough evidence to support that. Murderers don't normally just walk in to a place, kill a guy and log out at the same location leaving the body there too.

It sounds like the guy managed to inherit and took some stuff off his body but was indeed unable to oath himself in to the village so ended up leaving some scents. Probably he was the lawspeaker and I think what happens is LS goes to the next person in the village with the appropriate permissions and lawspeaking skill or it becomes renounced and you have to become lawspeaker again via the idol.

He probably thinks that nobody else lives there. Also, you can't hearth for 3 days after commiting a crime.

Probably just an alternative. Easier to leave him there if he is and if someone tracks him they will find that place instead of his main place. Even though you could chase his hearth fire. If it is your mate then so be it. Just don't tell him you killed his alt. It's probably a new spawn if it is your friend anyway. Id just kill him just incase.. so you don't have someone that might have the keys to your gates and stuff if that is a the guy who killed your friend.. either way upto you. But I would guess it's a bad guy

So, if someone would kill a person, would that someone appear as a char on the killed person hearthfire without ability to go offline for some time?

It's not true, you can't hearth for an hour.

Also, there are no murder scents near the body. So, if someone killed my friend outside the village and stole a key (not even sure if my friend had a master key with him), why the killer would bring his dead body?
