Personal Beliefs Questions

Postby Ashtaroth » Tue Jan 03, 2017 11:22 pm

When I had last played the game H&H and noticed the spectrums of personal belief.

Night vs Day
Nature vs Machine
Tradition vs Change
Civilization vs Barbarism
Etc

My question was if the game still had that. Also my other question is what do they mean? What would it mean if I ally myself more on the "light" side as opposed to the "dark"? Is it "good vs evil" or is it something else? Do these have any lore based meaning at all? Is there any other effect from these beliefs other than stat increase?

They're long gone. They used to give buffs/debuffs based on how deep into either side you were. For example Death/Life was +damage for -life, or +life for -damage iirc

Old legacy belief system that is gone.

Day/night affected your health up during said day and night. Not useful.
Nature/Industry affected aptitude of smelting, metal in ore, and certain clay vs silk, crop collection, and tree sapling survival rate.
Barbarism/Civilization affect Strength/Constitution vs Intelligence/Charisma.
Death/Life affected Amount of HHP dealt vs amount of life you have. No one did death.
Tradition/Change affected LP gain rate vs LP retain when death. People did change until they are done before cementing with tradition.
Martial/Peaceful affected damage vs LP rate.

The vast majority of communication with others are not just words; it is also diction, body motion, and many other factors. Even doing nothing is communication in itself. The moment your eyes meet someone, you have initiated contact. In essential, it is a constant non-stop flow between two or more entities.

Aww that's too bad. I think the system had great potential. Perhaps it could still be role-played if anyone cares for that. Is there any meaning behind them though? Besides statistics.

Another question is there any lore about Haven and Hearth?

There is no lore behind it. I do not think there is much lore in Haven.

Tons of it, now. In-game, even. Try playing the new game. You'll see exactly what I mean when you begin character creation.
"...the dungeon and shackles are already at my threshold to show me here and now my eternal disgrace. Only you can work the miracle to make life possible for a soul so imperiled by doubt, O Atoner for all, exalted beyond saying." - St. Gregory of Narek, Book of Lamentations, Prayer 1.

I have an answer about it....for me is very hard to understand the english that Jorb uses on those pop-up "lore" things...Is it some kind of ancient English? Is Jorb retarded? Am I retarted? Or both?.... :) Just joking...i just would like to know if that English is the current speaking or not...thx

The ancient language, you must understand.

As already mentioned they were removed when new game version came out. This was done to open all possibilities to everyone. However I still like the idea of specializing. :D

Here are what we used to have.

I will completely disagree. When you just took over 200 points damage from a cave in on level 5 while mining it was quite useful. Toss on a matching piece of day night jewelry with your beliefs set to one side or even just notch it one way or another upon need. You healed fast, very fast.

Here are the old necklaces I'm talking about.
