My W9 story

Postby jippe » Wed Jan 04, 2017 10:24 pm

A new world so full of new opportunities what to do.
I know I will make myself a hermitage from day one, heard the world was smaller than the previous but still large enough so I hope as I am not the most social person and often shy away from people in my vicinity.
so nice to be in a new and fresh world, even metal tools are for grasp within the first week, thanks to some boulders I find just after spawning into this new world. quickly I setup a claim to melt my first bars of metal, parallel I search the nearby area for a place to settle. close enough to my first claim, far enough from waterways to be hopefully be unnoticed.
After finding my sweet spot I set out to work on a nice little hermitage and start working on all kinds of different things to produce, previous incarnations I never got to the point of getting all advanced industries, hopefully this time I manage to discover all items and be able to produce all materials needed for even the fanciest things.
Soon after my hermitage is finished I am contacted by a person outside of my palisade, anxious I start talking to the person, he goes by the name of Empty, and is also looking for a place to settle, he seems nice and I tell him I have nothing against it if he settles close by.
Soon He is pouring more and more time and ideas and proposes to make a village, which is named Stardew, so we can chat easier, as we are helping each other out at this point to get all industries up, and with his help and some other people joining in our village, which consists at this time of four to five hermitages, I manage to dig all the way down to lvl5.
For a while I am in a happy place and manage to get all my industries up and even have a healthy supply of livestock. I even manage this time to get myself involved in hunting and for the first time I am able to hunt myself bears.
However all good things must come to an end.. south of us a large settlement is being erected, Empty dies by their hand and slowly our village of hermits is disbanded and all move away to better pastures.
At this time I decided to involve some friends from outside and learn them how to evolve in this world, they settle in palisades next to me, but quickly we organise ourselves and decide to make one big palisade, this also involves me, for the first time, in bashing palisades... :-)
After expanding the village to the extend that it covers out personal claims we find out we are part of the Kingdom of AD, added to the new lands opened up to the north we, my two friends and I, decide to move and found a new village.
We travel long and far and finally find our place which we will call our home. Again much hard work is being done to finally found our village.. glorious "Ons Dorp" which soon becomes our home.
Here we start, al separate, our routines. Kingy likes to mine, slungel likes to spiral the quality of our trees, me I just feed our animals and try to spiral our crop quality.
Slungel manage to make a great Knarr with the same logo as our banners (sadly it gets landlocked, later together with our second Knarr).

The routine continues and based on new things in the world we are sometimes more and sometime less active. We manage to make our own kingdom, "Oranje Boven" but soon find out that this is unmaintainable with the time we spend on the game.
Then the end of our lifes are set.. ruin will conquer all...
We decide to finally have a shot at the troll which spawned many weeks ago on lvl5 of our mine. However before that we decide to make the best gear we can, and have a feast to finish all our prepared food.

Image

More and more caskets and cabinets are placed near our tables, additional much wine and beer is consumed.

Image

After our well deserved diner we do have a final prayer to the gods before we will march to our doom

Image

Finally we drag ourselves to lvl5 of our mines to boldly throw our bodies against the green giant.

Image

After a short and intense battle we do find that we have reached for the stars and finally might rest between them..

TL;DR
I had a great time in W9 and did a lot of new things this time around, maybe I will start again in W10, for now me and my friends will enjoy life outside H&H

Thanks Jorb & Loftar for wasting my precious family time.. ;-)

I was sort of hoping the three of you would manage to defeat the troll even though that probably wasn't your intention. :)

I plan on taking on a mammoth on the last day to also go out in a blaze of glory, though a part of me is still hoping I defeat it even though that is so highly improbable that there is really zero possibility of it happening ... but we can all dream. :D

Thanks for sharing your story, it's always interesting to hear of others experiences. :)

Well we hoped ofcourse to kill the troll, but our inexperience(one of us never fought before) + low stats + lvl5 troll.. well outcome was fixed. Hope you will get your mammoth kill :-)
