A Hermits Tale W10 (Part 2: Quest for the Well of Souls)

So Its time for me to start this up again likely over do in doing so. But here it goes.

A Hermits Tale: Part 1
Midnight at the Well of Souls

So it begins

You all felt the the fade away and reform. We all started back off as a Wisp. Yes you know that feeling suddenly your a purple ball.

Image

So I of coarse floated towards land picking a gender as I crossed the stream, picking a red mow-hawk as my hair style I headed towards the wizard. He laughs maniacally at me as I come closer. He seems to have not taken the world reset as well as I have, and I am the ones that started out of a floating purple spirit ball. I walk over to him and give him a name that ill call myself. Still as I do I lack some feeling in my body. He giggles like hes still under stress and slightly nuts towards the fire, I roll my eyes as I know what he is telling me. Even if he cant speak strait still. I step into the flames, and scream as all the feeling in my body is not just starting to feel, but the senastion of burning your new body from raw spirit stuff into flesh and blood as you go to the real world.

I quickly start adjusting to my surroundings, some things feel different this time around, it feels like I have some sort of will now that I did not have before. Knowing I might be able to focus better at some task. I start foraging gaining some basic clothing, soon I start to cook my first real meal.

Image

Munching on my squirrel and chicken meat I start looking for berries and nuts and end up acting like some vacuum sucking in everything I find that I can eat. After I get my bearings a I start walking south as I keep trying to remember how to make a boat, I am not fond of these pesky moment when you know you should be able to do something, but have the mental block you have to unlock. I quickly unblock a dozen such mental issues, yes I totally enjoy expanding my brain but it hurts when you know you should be able to do something but cant....

Soon enough I build my boat and start heading south and a bit west. Before I know it I find a spot I have been looking for and start digging out a campsite.

Image

I stand safely in my claimed area as someone walks up and starts demanding I give him seeds of some sort, of which non are dry, he then leaves and sleep to try and shake him off. He keeps running towards my camp every time I wake up. The guy is takes a long time to give up. Finally I get some peace. I roast my fruit wraps and nut jerky. While prepping some fish wrap, if not just cutting up and cooking the fish right then and there.

Soon I get back to work trying to dig a home hear. I get a timber house up and expand my claim, but as I keep digging more and more into the hill it irritates me to no end. I realize this will just be a camp and I need to find a good spot close to it for my own sanity. I quickly find an ok location and start to get to work.

Image

Suddenly I am contacted by someone I have not seen nor heard of since the world before last... its some what creepy, but I ok him to live with me. What harm can this one do? Get killed? I as you can tell got to fishing a lot, still am though trying to use my fish up before I get more. Its as if I fished as much as I felt like it at times I have no place to walk I think. I quickly get back to work pushing a palisade out of one single tanning tub, getting the walls up and starting to pave my first areas for crops.

Image

You think past the miner scrapes and cuts I seemly keep getting, i be safe. No it keeps going it feels like the animals are trying to show me whos boss, and right now they are the kings and queens of the world. To the point in fact I bear runs at me out of no place and ruins my whole day.

Image

You think I would give up by now? No I am not the time to let such a beating stop me, slow me down most likely, but not stop me. I start forming plans to make a stiched patch and start watching a few Healing Root spots 5-30 minutes away like a hawk. I will heal this even if it takes me two months. I stand in a daze for a while thinking how can I keep working while being so extra fragile. As the haze of the pain in my head finishes clearing. I get back to work while other thoughts keep stewing in my head. Suddenly as if being stuck be lighting some new I have not been able to build before pops into my head. Seems the bears woke up some more things for me, just wish it did not make me such a bloody mess. So I get to work.

Soon my first granary is done, using some gray clay I have been finding. Yes this will work well for my hemp when its crop space is full. I keep working on the granaries as I go, soon after I take one of soon to be many long trips to some friends, I am then given some hand me down tools, as that is all I need right now. They got metal first and that is all I need, I get a saw, an axe, a pick, and a few bars of metal. Just what I need to not just get me started... but to push that stitched patch...

Soon I get the glew for the patch and make it, using some of the metal for a meat grinder, an anvil, and a smithy's hammer. In the end i have 5 bars left. I soon start prospecting a local cave. Past a cave in that missed me but made me stuck, I found metal some tin and cast iron ore. Grinning as best my stitched self could I mine and start smelting as I get coal done from my tar kilns. Soon I have enough metals to start to build myself a real home instead of living in my smithy all the time (still not fully moved out). Soon I get my cheese hut, my living in claim mate, and my tree nursery, sewing room, and silkery done. With the task of building my tower done.

Image

Yes even with a slow healing wound I am not giving up, soon I have my tower finished. It came out a solid black... was hoping for dark red highlights, but in the end what matters is its done. I swing back and start pushing some other projects. I started a windmill soon after getting my first metal. It was the last building to get done oddly.

Image

Though it got done about the same time I finished my first oven. So it allowed me to let it do its job, in the time I started the windmill to the point I got it done and had an oven. I nearly had 10k barely in my granary for it saved. I so far have almost used two barrels of the flour.

Image

All in all I am off to a good start... what happens next. I did also get a few other projects done:

But whats next, we shale see its not happened yet... or some has just not here yet.

A Hermits Tale: Part 2
Quest for the Well of Souls
Into the deep dark I go

You think with everything I have built that I am way better off then I really am. That is not the case, been barely scratching that which I could. Well till now for my first mine hole is done. You think I would have luck and find a cave system below me? Well if that is lucky in your eyes. No I find hard rock, I have placed my mine hole so I am close to an ore so I have something to get even if its all I find.

Image

With the hole done and me checking out whats below its time to get into my mining gear and bring some metal for pillars. Grabbing a whole pile of lower quality cast that I will likely be able to replace once I get things rolling.

I quickly find the ore I was looking for Blood Stone, now to dig around and see if I can find some Coal....

Image

Instead I quickly find more ore that will be useful... copper and well cast iron not bad not bad. I keep digging expanding my mining area hoping I run into what is now Black Gold for me, the one item that can chnge how fast I smelt my ore, the one thing that will help greatly. After much digging and digging, taking many trips I find it, but it appears I lack the strength to mine it right now... yay go me. So I grab some of the ore cause I am not going empty handed from my first massive mining trip on this level. So its back home smelting this ore.

Image

While I watch the ore smelt haply I start to think on my next move for this mining thing past hunting like a a loony which is a plan anyway. I also know of a good clay spot like 30 minutes boat ride away... so its long over do to rebuild my tark kiln, kiln and smelters, so I get to work.

Image

Using some rocks and coal some of my friends gave me to help do this type of project. I get much better tar kilns, and smelters, got enough good q bricks left over to rebuild my Finery Forge once I get the good cast iron I will likely be mining soon enough.

Image

So here I am even plotting to use every single stone I can mine out to help me grow. Nothing will stop my quest to be as good as I could be.
