This is pretty cool weather for this part of Australia. It was pretty hot and dry before this cyclone arrived. I guess all the destruction is just part of the price we pay for rain in this part of the world. They downgraded it to a category 3 anyway so I will probably live.

Does anyone else get cool weather like this where they're from?

I live in the midwest of the US so we get cool lake effect thunder storms that are huge, loud, look beautiful, and (generally) better the environment and clean everything. Sometimes they are shitty and break some sticks off my trees so I need to pick them up but then I get to burn them. Only scary thing are tornadoes that the potato growers get hit with.

So this summer squall is still going. Later in the week it should be thrown off the east coast of Australia and hopefully it won't survive its journey to warmer waters where it might re-intensify and return. It's happened before.

This is the current extent of rainfall, strong winds and flash flooding. Areas to the north of the current rainfall pattern have already been devastated.

Could you shine some light on what some of the colors in the picture mean or link me to some aussie weather site? Light Blue might mean 0.000000001 femptometers of rain without any proper context.

BoM Radar Loop Showing current rainfall according to radar.

Rainfall Tracking (Brisbane area only)

Weather Warning links for Australia Most of these are related afaik, although I didn't go through the list.

QLD Transport Traffic Updates Interactive map showing road closures and delays, you can filter for flooding I believe.

Most places like the BoM only update daily averages with reliable data. It's still today. This isn't really that bad, this is just a fairly ordinary once every five years or so event. Or at least it is now. Global warming or something.

Edit:
Or there's MetEye, forogt about this one because I rarely use it on my mobile, it takes too long to load.
