I have probably seen a handle full of "bots" in the last 4 wipes, they really aren't as abundant as people think but yeah Alts are in droves just because of the way the game is designed.

(this is coming from other threads, not this one)

I'm sad that people's excitement for a new world only translates to negativity on the forums.

Well, people have been expecting a reset soon for several months now, the devs have been rather quiet and lately we've barely been getting game updates.

For the record: We've had a total of five game updates in 2022 so far; only two were after February 13th. This is everything we've gotten since February 13th:
jorb wrote:New Implementations
-----------------------
  • Added "Bulldog", sausage.

Key Fixes
-----------------------
  • Added variable materials to "Battering Ram", giving them visual influence from the types of wood used to construct them.
  • Can place War Flags within the build exclusion zone of Thingwalls.

Small Fixes
-----------------------
  • Tree Pots now display the new quality of trees planted in their tooltips.
  • Can now inspect crops for quality when they are harvestable (including trellis crops).
  • Can place and take items at the bottom of a stockpile by holding Ctrl-Shift when using the mousewheel to transfer items.

jorb wrote:New Implementations
-----------------------
  • Added "Sense Coronation Stone", Hearth Magic. Allows you to locate the Coronation Stone of the province you are currently in.
  • Added "Memories of The Seen", ancestral prayer. Restores all Discoveries previously known by your immediate ancestor.

Key Fixes
-----------------------
  • Pushed some logging code which may allow us to catch the famed-but-elusive nVidia crash bug in action. Try to trigger it if you can!
  • Fixed a case where jumping from a ledge corner didn't work as intended, potentially causing death.

Small Fixes
-----------------------
  • Added sketches to Sturdy Beds. You can now make nice covers for them. Suggested here.

Loftar hasn't posted since March 20th, and both devs were completely absent from the forum for almost a full month recently. Meanwhile the forum has no active moderators as the last one was bullied away recently, and despite Jorb posting they're accepting moderator applications and several people having applied (one of whom I've seen zero objections to so far) no mod has been appointed and there are no indications they're about to appoint one.

I don't like the rampant negativity either, but the devs really aren't helping. People are justified in being upset here.

Yeah but people can be upset without being toxic about it.

lets hope they do as jorb said if they move on from development and open-source it :D

OFC i would rather they don't move on and would rather they do some more development. ;)

Open sourcing haven and shutting down the official server would probably be the end of it. This kind of game is incredibly vulnerable to admin abuse, and doesn't really have the pop to sustain multiple worlds. It's not the kind of game which can sustain itself long term off <100 player servers giving you options to jump between if an admin makes a stink.

I know I'd likely lose interest in it, the MMO aspect is pretty core to the haven identity.

Silly to exclusively blame players for the state of the forums or community as a whole. For one, moderation is seriously lacking, and the forums would be less toxic if the most toxic players were either btfo or discouraged from being toxic. More importantly tho, there’s a lack of faith in development pervading here that’s reached an all time low, and that can’t be down to the players. The past few worlds were 13 months long, and this world has passed the 13 month mark with no signs of ending. Several larger projects in the works seem to be stalling out development with no clear signs of progress. The developers are quite opaque about their progress in general, not posting anything except repeating “we’re working on” and not asking the community for any feedback during the development process, only long after. Broken dogshit like realms, seasons, oceans and whales have sat stagnating in the game despite their deleterious effects on engagement, balance, or ability to fulfill their purpose. Last-year’s nVidia crash, which all but broke PVP in this PVP game, has yet to be adequately addressed.

You’d think an ‘eternal alpha’ project like this where the average player knows more about the user-facing game than the devs themselves would go to great lengths to engage with the community, for feedback and to keep the social experience alive. Inviting players for testing before mechanics get added and following up on fixing those added mechanics before moving on to the next thing, hiring/appointing community ambassadors, etc. There’s a wall between players and devs and it’s killing the game. The players didn’t put it there.

TBH getting ghosted by the devs for two+ months REALLY didn't help this world, and development has stagnated to an all time low, there are still xmas hats in the shop and we're a week into May.
