Why are mole's paws so HUGE?

So I just tried putting a mole' paw bone on a wall. It's bigger than a human skull, which is only slightly bigger than a rabbit's foot.

I was curious to learn more about these creatures with enormous feet, so I captured a mole. Guess what? A mole's pawbone is bigger than the mole's entire body.

That theory isn't so far fetched. When you slaughter a mole, you get a pawbone and one normal bone. Both are enormous. This implies moles are monstrosities hiding in a bag of flesh. I present to you the mole's true form:
