Quick Tip

I found when you craft a nettle clothing it will give your player -1 agi. A while ago I found an abandoned settlement and found some q1 nettle pants. The cool thing was, that the pants gave +0 agi!

Just a small trick I found for nettle.

Yeah, but gilding bonuses are capped by the q of what they're put into. Probably not worth the loss in potential survival bonus, when it's early enough for 1 agi to matter, but I'd be interested to test it.

There's a thread for "pro tips" in How Do I?, but not sure this one qualifies.

The bonuses and penalties on an item are based on the quality and figured from a base of q10 equaling a 1x multiplier. It figures from there that you can minimize penalties from minimizing quality. However, as pointed out, you're giving up way more in bonuses. AGI is only important once you start hunting with via combat, and it's not that hard to raise. http://ringofbrodgar.com/wiki/Quality.

Hitting that sweet spot of q7 or 8 (would need to work the math to be sure) might give you that balance, but it'd be hard to do so unless you forced yourself to gather enough nettles to make your noob clothing set first before raising survival any more, and I'm not sure that's worth the time as you quickly get up to the next cutoff, which is about q16 or so. (It jumps to -3 after that.)
Opinions expressed in this statement are the authors alone and in no way reflect on the game development values of the actual developers.

It's buried and unviewed now along with the other guides since it has been hidden away in a list thread
