New Player here

Hey guys,
just starting and trying out this game, so far died twice to drowning (overestimated that river!)
Hope to keep playing this game and find some people to play with. So far I've found many buildings but everything looks abandoned.

Welcome.

The world is big, abandoned settlements are a good source of stuff when you're first to loot...

In case you meet other hearthlings but need another character afterwards: don't despair, there are also decent others.

Hey, welcome to Haven ... :)

Most new players first death is by drowning, swimming sounds fun right, lol.
There are a fair few abandoned places but if you can get access to them they are great for scavenging, you are bound to find some useful stuff and upgrades for newer players.

Good luck and be wary of the wildlife ... :)

yeah being wary of wildlife, thank god they only knock you out!
I feel like this game takes a very long time to get "settled" as my first house took quite a few hours of work!

I wonder what I should focus on first, yeomancy and securing my base, or some sort of harvesting/crafting set. Running around naked with a hat and shoe feels silly for the most part

Thank you thank you.
Just what I needed.

Perception and exploration would have been such a hidden feat to figure out.

P.S.
how long does it take for fireplaces to cook "Fruitroasts". seems to be at 0% for a while now, but the fire isn't dieing down either.

In the fireplaces there are two things that show on it. One is the remaining fuel, and the other is the 'heat'. It wont cook the fruitroasts until the 'heat' goes up. And the higher the heat is the faster they cook I believe.. nothing you can do bout it other than leaving the fire going until the heat ticks in

thanks "eventually" i figred it out. Is there some distance i have to be near it for it to work? I noticed when I was travelling and came back time seemed to be in stasis. But as I was leveling and paving my new home I saw the firepit cook faster.

Or perhaps it was just my bad judgment of time passing.

thanks for the offer maze, I will see how to contact you since I don't have discord as I am using my girlfriends laptop due to a broken leg I sustained (impossible to sit at my PC desk without moving stuff around, which is hard to manage with a broken leg)

My ingame name is Arcolithe III (for the third respawn)
Let me know if that is a good way of contacting you, or if I somehow set a deathwish as there are magic spells to track someone with just their name.
