I hope so. I feel -- pretentiously -- that his importance to the philosophical depth of Middle Earth is underestimated.

It most likely is, but I hope they can show that on screen. Not sure if it is possible. They might make him into a clown.

I expect the series to be very bad attempt at riding the popularity of lotr movies, trying to grab even the last pieces of money that can be made with it. Kind of like the hobbit movies.
I doubt they can completely skip Tom Bombadil if they are going to make a lot of episodes and seasons...
