Youtubers that go over updates

Postby falsewall » Sat Dec 02, 2017 2:14 pm

So I was wondering if there are any youtubers that go over updates for H&H and make short videos on them. I just kinda felt like seeing if I could lazy figure out what has gone on the past couple years without looking through the many update posts. Worked 12 hours for 6 days in a row. Want lazy brain H&H junk food if anyone knows of it. Otherwise, ill just read through if i get 2-3 no's.

speaking as someone who's done update discussion/rundown videos before (for path of exile), I don't think any systems interact with each other in ways that'd justify this sort of thing, in an aRPG like PoE if an item changes it can have much further reaching consequences than you might expect on first glance.

On the contrary in HnH pretty much every change ever can be summarised absolutely in a line of text, without any real opportunity for further insight from mr. Youtuberman. That being said I can see the value of having someone read patch notes to you simply because it might be more enjoyable than reading through the post yourself.

Actually while writing this I realise what could be more useful. Every time items, animals etc. are added, the stats are left out from the post to be discovered by players. a short video going over all that information wouldn't be totally worthless (but also just as easily accomplished, even probably more convenient, by text and images).

This would work since patch notes do not reveal all the information.
In this video the youtuber could show stats of items added like what kinda lp it gives or stats in a cooked food.
Or where to even find new items.

If this feels too short youtuber could always talk about current events in haven.
Which parts of the world are dangerous and where fights/raids/nub killings are going on.

if I had a network of contacts that kept me up to date with all that stuff I'd do it, 'This week in the hearthlands' would be good fun. same goes for patch items, I swear people used to be quicker to share pictures of every new item than they are now.

I'm with hazzor on this one. There's just no need for 90% of our patches. They're small fixes or content additions. Major and minor balance changes don't come often, and when they do, it's not hard to get a grip of what the effect is. The exceptions would be like when the combat system changed, the addition of satiations to food, that sort of thing.

That said, more streamers for haven would be interesting. I've thought about doing them, but my computer is horribly underpowered to stream anything other than retro gaming. (I've tried saving videos on Steam... crashes or lags so hard it's unplayable.) That and it's mostly 20-somethings and teens that watch twitch and youtube. An old guy like me probably wouldn't get 10 subs. :(
Opinions expressed in this statement are the authors alone and in no way reflect on the game development values of the actual developers.

All the hot info moved from the forums to discord.
Reading forums, discord and having friends across the map would be the requirement for this kind of youtube show.
I guess a friend that has friends across the map works too.
There seems to be fight threads weekly on the forums could analyze who was in the wrong when people start claiming one or another thing.

Plenty of things to talk about really just takes the right person who is actually interested in the game and everything it involves.
I'd watch it.

that would also require actually knowing what really happened, videos in those threads are almost always cut in a flattering manner.
