How the fuck hafen runs shit on much better computer?

I had 4gb ram laptop I had to turn off every video option for it to lag way less and be more smooth, now I got a beast 16gb ram still the same, still have to turn off every video option for it to run smooth.
Like is this game is not defined by system requirement, but rather internet requirements or what. Please an educated person explain this to me please.

Its less ram intensive so much as processor. 8 GB is plenty of ram for most games, including this one. Games not super optimized right now, and the devs know it. Its one of their main projects to fix.

If the only difference is having more RAM, then I'd expect that to not make much of a difference. The amount of RAM in the system usually only really matters if you don't have enough of it for what you're doing, and 4 GB was probably enough for running Haven.

There's so many factors that go into what affects performance in computer. Gaming is one of the most intensive activities you can put one through. And you haven't even provided us system specs to us so we can make suggestions as to what the problem might be...

but yes, this isn't an XBox or PS console, so system to system you're going to have massive variations in performance, even when everything looks like it should be better.

Also performance is highly dependent upon having a GPU driver that isn't braindead when it comes to OpenGL, quite some (especially the ones delivered with Windows) are problematic. Also you need to be sure that, should you have a dedicated GPU, not accidently user the CPU integrated one.

And should you run windows with current meltdown/spectre patches you might suffer from these.
