Due to the high failure rate of maiden rocket flights, the Falcon Heavy will only carry a dummy payload on its first flight. Elon Musk, SpaceX's flamboyant founder, has said that he will consider it a win as long as the rocket clears the pad and doesn't blow it to smithereens. As a result, the Falcon Heavy will carry Musk's beloved $100,000 red Tesla Roadster sports car as a payload, complete with a mannequin at the wheel in a space suit. Musk has said that David Bowie's classic Space Oddity will be playing on a loop in the roaster as it's hurtled into orbit. He told reporters at a briefing on Monday that the Tesla "will get about 400,000 million km away from Earth and be doing 11km/s. We estimate it will be in that orbit for several hundred million years, maybe in excess of a billion years". .

lmao pretty cool

No wonder why he is so rich, taking advantage of every possible situation, for example, rocket launches to promote his car brand.
The car will probably remain in its orbit for along time indeed, chances of it hitting something before the sun burns out are quite slim.

its a bit crazy to think that even after humanity goes extinct, only thing that remain to remind about existance of us, are some random satellites... and an electric sports car in space!

If there will be a nuclear apocalypse or something, and then humanity has to re-invent everything, they will be very confused when they find a car circling the sun!

I'd like to know what else they sent up with the car. I'm of the mindset that anything we send into space should probably have some sort of extra info/identifying information attached to it instead of just some trolling bullshit. Like, any of the items we shoot out into the abyss could potentially be found by something and do we really want the one thing that's found by alien lifeforms to be of no use to them (or us) whatsoever?

I think car has use.

meh this is too much of a "what if", let's just assume that the rocket is NOT going to reach anything remotely intelligent and if it did, by the time it does, it would be such irrelevant outdated information that it doesn't matter if they find a rocket, or a rocket with a stone in it, either way they will know there's intelligent life, but nothing about its current state.

anyway if they sent anything up they probably sent radioactive trash.

That's true, I feel like it would raise more questions than anything though lol
