Keepers of Journals/Diaries

Postby Finigini » Wed Feb 14, 2018 7:46 am

Hello beloved Haven community,

I just began writing a personal journal today for various reasons. The main one being that I have come to the conclusion that I am just not very interesting. You would think that having a hobby in game development would be something worthy of discussion but I can't say for certain that this is the case. I am also terrible at conversation, not because of shyness, but because I simply cannot come up with anything to say. The result is that most people are talking at me and since all I do is listen I come under scrutiny when I forget anything they had said. I am hoping that this journal will help me express my thoughts and improve my social presence.

This being said, I would like to ask the community: Do you keep a journal/diary? If so, why?

I kept a journal my freshman year of college because my roommate stressed the fuck out of me and I needed to organize my thoughts.

I try to keep a dream journal, but I always forget my dreams before I remember too write them down

Edison kept journals and notebooks and scribbled everything down that popped into his head. Some became great inventions, others just drove him crazy trying to figure out what he was thinking about....

Personally, I find writing a chore. If I can, I type it (can type about 3-4x faster than writing) or use a voice recorder. Using a shorthand writing method can help, I guess.

Me and my bro started keeping diaries of stuff that happened in-game a few days ago when we came back into the game.

The very next day we started, we got raided and all our journals were stolen.

Really, i would, but the writing system on parchments/runestones is just such crap it's not worth the trouble. They need to make it function like a simple notebook-like app, with capability of line breaks and actually seeing what you just wrote, so you can fix typos and stuff. When they do that, and maybe also let you use leather to combine multiple parchments into a book, then i'll definitely do it.

I'd just do it on Notebook or something, but that kinda ruins my immersion. Plus, getting raided and the raiders seeing, stealing and reading your leftover journals is part of the fun, imo.

EDIT: lol, i was thinking you meant journals in-game about stuff that went on in the game.

I made a very cringey and stupid journal back when i was like six. I still have it somewhere. I'd like to do it again, but my life is totally boring and ordinary, so i don't really see a point to it.
Total misplay.

I don't really write anything down, but I tend to doodle often, so I guess that's kind of a diary of my thoughts/feelings on that particular day.

One day you may look back at boredom and remember it fondly.

My lawyer told me to keep a journal, so I have for about four years. Never know when it might come in handy.

My lawyer told me to avoid writing anything down... never know what can be used against you in court.
