Probably wants some original thoughts on the matter... that's like writing original thoughts on the Pythagorean Theorem, though. Though why a professor would say it's wrong... more like something a teacher at the middle/high school level would say. Though I will say I have met some professors with this level of Ivory Tower Hubris.

The definition of any term is dependent on the context in which it is used.

Assuming the context of a project in which a software system is created and/or maintained, I'd say "software architecture" is the technical structure of the software system, the design thereof, and the process of designing it (with everything that's involved with that).
