My son (17) started playing and for two days I heard how difficult everything was but how satisfied he felt when accomplishing something. I got curious, made a character and have been hooked ever since. This has got to be one of the best games I've ever played. Started out teaming up with my son just trying to learn and survive, traveled around, found a good area, settled down, met a cool dude from Sweden formed a village. We now have 10 villagers from all over the globe and even got my girlfriend hooked. All in all if you don't like everything to come easy and don't mind working for what you earn a fabulous gaming and social experience.

Just keep in mind (as in: prepare yourself mentally) that the game (to be precise: other players acting as massive assholes) can be quite brutal, thus being content with the chance of someone coming by that will kill your characters and burn everything you ever made to the ground just for the lulz... will help you sticking to the game instead of rage quitting should things go south (it would be an emotionally intense experience, increasing in magnitude with age of the characters and village development stage).

i highly doubt anyone would waste time sieging you if they know nothing will come out of it so there is that. you still can be killed tho if they calculate your health correct.
