Education is no substitute for curiosity and just simply observing things around you. I'm a proponent of the belief that education ruins the potential for discovery by teaching you what and how to think. Still, the world needs mindless workers and that is what the education system produces.
Strangely perhaps the negotiation for my exit from schooling was decided by the fact that I was always questioning things and refused to accept incorrect or contradictory information without further explanation. The teacher said "He doesn't believe us and what we are teaching and I'm starting to question things myself. He needs to go out and find the answers for himself in the real world. We're ruining him." Of course the reality was much more complex but that was that and I agreed to leave.
I was causing too much trouble.
Again, education has its place however it is totally overrated.
Pretty much this. Education has a place but how necessary is it? Would you rather be a mindless office drone or a free thinking individual?
What about for your kids?
