Finally it seems that it will be a white christmas in southern Finland too! In the last few years there has not been a whole lot of snow, especially during Christmas and new year. But now there is some!
Snow is quite nice, it seems to muffle sounds so it is more quiet, especially when its still in the air, slowly falling down to the ground. Light also reflects off it, so especially in populated areas with streetlights its pretty bright during all times of the day even though usually its quite dark during the winter time.
It also brings out some fond memories of playing with it, building snowmen and cool castles out of it. And perhaps some not-so-nice memories of ice skating in the cold wind during PE-lessons and getting your face "washed" with snow.
Sometimes it is a bit slippery though, especially in areas with lots of traffic, the snow gets pushed to the ground, making it slippery, especially if you don't have proper shoes with good grip in them. Sometimes snowplows also push the snow to the ground, instead of plowing it away, resulting in extremely slippery surfaces.
The air also gets extremely dry during winter, but comparing that to extreme humidity that occurs in some countries, I am not sure if that is any better.
Overall, snow is nice.
