This is some big news to me! I see this Granger have again donned mantle of moderation. What is event to spur this man to leave retirement? Speculation here please.

Granger is getting paid? Where's my share?

Technically, he never quit being a moderator. It's how user groups work on phpBB. Users can't necessarily control which groups they belong to, but they can choose to not "be a part of the group" even if still listed as such. Moderators are such a group, and a default one when the software is set up.
