What is everyone doing with their life?

Postby evilboy666 » Mon Jan 28, 2019 9:24 am

Hello everyone. So I thought of returning for W11 to play hnh like the good old days. The bad thing is that in those good old days I was a lazy-ass high school kid. Now uni will end in a couple of months then I will be an engineer and shit like that. I want to return but I have no idea how to put time into gaming. Especially a grind-ass game like hnh.

Then, I see some regulars here that are around for much longer than me. Im genuinely curious about what you guys do. Like how old are you, are you studying-studying what, are you working-working as what?. Are you married or only what a girlfriend? Most importantly how do you spare time for hnh. Im curious guys lets get to know each other!

For myself, Im 21, about to be a civil engineering graduate in Turkey. School is tough nowadays..

It's weird, because I started playing Haven when I was an immature 12-year old and now I just graduated from university at 21. I'm currently looking for a job and all the good stuff that comes with being a young adult. I'll be playing a lot of W11 until then, but of course I'll still be playing once I actually get settled into a job.

That's weird. When I started playing this, I had an immature 12 year old. you aren't my kid in disguise are you? Kidding aside, never could get my kids into this. My niece and nephews were in love with the game as they saw it. (They didn't see some of the more complex issues in the game.) Good luck with the job search, though!

As for me, I try to ignore these threads as I never was one to share personal information, but since my kids are grown, I'm trying to go from "provide food" to "do what I love," which is software development, hopefully games. Game design really doesn't pay well... if you're indie, you almost have to get lucky. If you work for EA, Activision, or whoever, it frequently doesn't pay enough for the bills of a family given the places you have had to live. The industry has gotten so spread out from when I first looked at it, though. You can almost work from your home in the middle of remote mountains. The only issue is getting reliable internet there.
Opinions expressed in this statement are the authors alone and in no way reflect on the game development values of the actual developers.

I'm 25 and started playing when I was probably 16/17. Moved out of my parent's place at 19, got a diploma in mental health & addictions with a focus on counseling when I was 21ish... Went to a University for addictions counseling but dropped out of it after a semester because of their weird requirements to become properly certified after graduating (would've added an extra 2 years on top of a degree just to be something that makes above min wage). Got a graduate certificate in autism & behavioural science and now I'm finishing up a degree in child & youth care.

Working as a residential support worker right now and on the side I've just started co-facilitating an addictions recovery program with a certified addictions counselor ...

So yeah, I guess I'm a grown-up now :(
