Makes it better to play than default client which missed a lot of QoL or functions. Amber client or Ender client are two most popular clients. Check out wizard subforum.

Options --> Map Settings I believe, you tick the trees you want to show up as (triangles?) on the minimap. If you dont see map settings, you need to relog on that particular character.
