Post snippets of your life in Hearthlands that you feel like sharing.

That time Karma didn't protect form adder bites
I was hard at work at rather big landscaping project when I hear unknown player alarm. I have my more valuable character hearth away while leaving forage alt behind to have some discourse with the stranger. They ask if I've seen moles. I instruct them to build a dugout and head a long way north. As they leave, I feel like I have to give better directions. I make the alt run after them while I grab a screenshot of my in-game map and get it to somewhere I can link it and post in area chat. They thank me and I stay behind as they head along their way. Then I realize adder is attacking me and the map I hadn't hampers my ability to react as I fail to close it quickly. I run around hoping to reach a nearby cave, but the bloodthirsty snake keeps chasing until the alt is KO.

All the way back, World 7, legacy. circa 2010 maybe?

i remember being assaulted by my neighboor for allegedly 'ruining the quality of the local iron' which may or may not be true since i knew jack shit back then. Anyhow, not knowing how to fight i ran in my crappy base -- of which i was proud of regardless -- but not before they got inside too. Panicked, my dumbass (me) accidentally drop his (only) key while running about like a headless chicken. They of course take it. I manage to distract them enough with my sheer idiocy and make a run for it through the door i left wide open. They close the door. They taunt me from inside my base.

Anyway, I learned nothing since then and i'm still a retard to this day. LA FIN

Definitely "not true." Ever. You'd just ruin the ore for yourself if anything w4 and later, and w3 and earlier it was all q10 anyway.

My story... I was waking up from a sleepy night one morning (this was all the way back w5). As I'm trying to get my eyes open, I walk out of my small cabin still blinded by the bright sunshine. All I can feel is something gnawing on me for great feasting. Next thing I know... dead by bear.

*background: It was near start of the world, I had just gotten my village up, but hadn't yet gotten the personal claim expanded out to give that "safety zone" that was needed back then to protect from animal spawning. (animals would still spawn on a village claim, but not a personal claim... most everyone just paved the area, but as it was just my brother and myself, we didn't need the large safe area, or so we thought.)

When the Neck of Bears was not even established, just a gazillion nabs running around wrecking shit, on a dinky island, we were attacked by dudes on boats with slings. The humiliation and hatred burned in those that didn't ragequit, to seek our revenge. We grinded so many buckets to attain the skills needed to kill our assaulters, all the while dying to bears, ants, and enemy A>Y. Our poor origin point so at a loss in trying to wrangle tards that he gave up, and left us for the /vg/ village, they were a bunch of faggots. We developed, grew in number and ability, established an actual presence, and got slightly less horrible at the game with each passing week. Several eons and alliances later, the original perpetrator, the dude who picked us off like fish in a barrel (we definitely were), was lured into a dick shaped palisade on false promises, where he was fed nothing but bark bread till he starved, much to our delight. Being afraid of adorable bunny slippers. Getting a monocle for the first time. Seeing Cyrillic and running immediately. "The cold war never ended, it continued on HnH."

Being the carpenter and sawing boards for hours thinking my friends were signposting them, only to learn that despawn applied to dropped boards and blocks. Hours of clear-cutting completely wasted lol.

The terror I had of ants, and how I bullied a friend into killing them for me whenever I saw them. (Sorry Noma!)

The worry, and pain I felt knowing that any day might be the last time I crewed with you Fharl, I hope wherever you are, the surgery went well and you live a long healthy life from here on out.

We made a newbie rearing village, Bear Cub, across from the aptly named 'Bear Lake'. I distinctly recall trying to talk a pair of guys out of trying to become 'jailors' of the village, trapping villagers who wouldn't properly sort shit, in the cellar of our log cabin to 'punish' them. I wonder if Vigi even remembers this... you and Daegir were adorable to read day in and day out, nonetheless.

Being stupid and going into a known hostile area with the village silker, and dying cause a dude saw an opportunity.

"Fucking larpers."

First world. Spawned a swarm of fucktards from various 4chan boards, using threads introducing the game. Charged them with crossing a river to get to my nab log cabin, no matter how. I marched throughout the swarm bellowing advice on basic controls. About 8 out of 30 made it.

We moved and I built a village with those guys. Everyone got a house and a separate pclaim. No city planning. Total anarchy. We built our first palisade together zig-zagged along a swamp. It was awful.

A pair of fucking Brits betrayed us, stealing and joining a nearby village (they had the gate key). We never got true revenge but our lone fighter killed them and took all the shit they had left in our village.

We set to move again, actually planning a massive village. Shit was going to be amazing.

Then fucking DESMOND. This guy was one of the LP donors for our Vclaim, roughly the third or fourth strongest in the village. This asshole broke the rules by taking the key to the new village (at the time there was only master keys for gates) out of the village. He found a abandoned village covered in scents and made off with some of their pies. Soon enough, a ranger hunts him down, seizing the pies and keys. The village wasn't fucking abandoned, they JUST been raided and had metal stolen. Fuck you Desmond, you pie stealing shit.
Boofing and gumping it all damn day. Shoutout to my homeboy Moloch

Not So Foal Play

I had no part in this story but a long time ago, post was made on the forums about how their mare was pregnant until it one day wasn't but there was no foal. It was the dreaded vagina-cannon bug (that to my knowledge has been finally, permanently squashed) and OP was told that the foal is gone for good.

A while later second thread pops up. Someone has found lone foal and is asking if there's any way they can feed it. Someone links the first thread, and the two people meet up, foal is returned and the finder is rewarded with some useful items.
