You should boycott them for lack of linux support and an attempt to bring "exclusive games" to pc.
Free games is just their evil plan to get you use their platform and corrupt you.
EA/Origin and ubisoft/uplay were already annoying enough, limiting their games to their specific stores. But those were at least games made by them.
And not some third party which they corrupted by money to force people to use only their platform.

but they are really just trying to force you to use their platform to play games that could otherwise be played without it, for example steam is not going to give you an install setup that you can use and then play the game, but instead it's going to just let you get the game and whenever you use the file to run it its going to forcefully run steam as well and the game will not run without running steam just so they can make business on stuff that you'd otherwise have more control on

free games is just the beginning of that to bait you, you say that you want the game, well so take it, just be aware that the intentions are not good and that these steams and epics do not intend to do good so it's not a good idea to dive too deep into it
