What would cave louse taste like?

Postby MagicManICT » Sat Apr 24, 2021 3:14 pm

My first thought was, after they were added and everyone found out they could be cooked: I bet they taste like worms. Over time, I've been thinking differently. What if they have a flavor and texture similar to lobster or crab? The flavor would be more earthy, and not so salty, maybe a bit of an iron or coppery overtone to it. But now I'm thinking--what if they're full of mercury and lead and are really toxic?

I would imagine they would taste similar if a bit less salty than giant isopods.

I think me and my friend found some small isopods eating a dead bird (or some other small animal) and we got excited because we thought we found trilobites that have been extinct for 252 million years.

More on-topic, Cave Louse seem to be isopods which are indeed crustaceans, they breath with gills that work with air as long as they are wet, so land-based isopods can only live in moist areas. This means "crab or lobster -like" flavor would be logical hypothesis.

I'm surprised to see this topic coming up early world. Usually these threads come up when the world is a year old and everyone is going crazy with no content lol

It's good you made this thread after my idea about lousey sausages was published. More people should support the new lousy sausage paradigm. Put pressure on that coward Jorb, and soon he will buckle.

I knew after one bite, it was forgettable, but what can I expect? After all, It's a lousey sausage.
Early world exploit: Put your hearthfire inside a cave, then hold shift to position a claim right in front of a cave. After 8 hours the claim will be unbreakable. Since your hearthfire is inside the cave, you can still get back inside, and leave, but nobody will be able to enter, effectively making you unraidable for the first 3-7 days. Enjoy
