I thought animals now just don't kill you any longer?

second time now my main char has died to animals.

what gives?

Random, some animals are more likely to kill you than others. Also slimes don't kill.

well slimes do kill. as thats how i died. But my both helaths were like at 25 HHP because i just picked up a Bunch of Jellies

But oh well, because of the death, i headed back to the place of my death and came across a treasure trove of an abandended stead. So my backset just turned into a win fall

Also just heard that even if i dont buy rage, I can still be killed by other players.

Slimes don't kill as in they drop fight when you get koed normally. If you run around with low hhp pretty much anything can kill you, even nettles

well, all in all, i'm setback not too bad. and I found my body intact so I buried it and got back some LP

Yes, almost anything can kill you when you are at low HHP.

Animals being "mostly non-lethal" just means that most animals drop combat once you get KO'd. Boar and anything larger only has a chance to drop combat and it seems to "roll" this chance every time it attacks, I remember bear hitting me while KO for almost entirety of my HHP bar. I was sure my character was going to die but the bear dropped combat after that, letting me Hearth to safety.
