Should it require 10+ hours to hunt down a whale?

I've currently been searching for a whale by first finding barnacles, and by just manually scanning deap ocean. Does anyone else feel it takes an absurd amount of time to find one?

I'm not necessarily complaining about the current system, but more so looking on other feedback/experience on the current system from other people who hunt.

Maybe the issue isn't the time it takes, but that the respawn timer on them is very long?

Also, seems easier to bot whales with the new system than the previous.

Agreed, there's a fine balance between manually searching(botting) deep ocean for 24 hours to find a whale and searching the shorelines(botting) to find barnacles for 24 hours.

It's bad enough no one actually kills 70% of the mobs in this game legitametly, and then the icing on the cake is one of the best mob in the game just gets botted.

Also, I'd like to point out that I'm not suprised nor against it being botted. Who the fuck would want to search for it in either system manually as it's a snooze fest. I'm just complaining because I want a different system that's actually enjoyable/realistic for someone who would prefer to manually hunt instead of turn on alt client in the background scanning nodes for hours on end.
