I cannot think of game developers more deserving than the DF guys.

I donated to them once years and years ago, was happy to throw $40 at them for the steam release. But a friend beat me to it and gifted me a copy for Christmas, d'awww.
The graphical interface makes it feel like I'm learning an entirely new game. Lots of work to be done on it still, but it's kind of nuts seeing dwarf fortress for SALE on a storefront. I'm so eager to try out adventure mode when it's re-added. So many hours of enjoyment from wandering the world, recruiting cannon fodder, smashing the teeth out of random wildlife. Lots of fun reading other people's adventure mode exploits, too.

Hell yeah, Dwarf Fortress is great.

Never could get into it though. I consider myself very tolerant of low graphics in games, but ASCII was a bit too much. I'm glad the Steam version exists.

They are such a supportive and community-forward company, always listening to feedback and engaging with their players.

Not oppressing positive free-speech? Real pioneers and role models in the industry.
