No, I agree, the devs are making a huge mistake by re-charging their existing playerbase (the people who should be campaigning to have the game wishlisted and leaving positive reviews to see it thrive.) Instead, half of these players are going to review bomb the game because they need to buy a new verification. They are literally shooting themselves in the foot by doing this. They should immediately announce they are going to delay the steam release until they can work out a way to allow people to transfer HATS and VERIFICATION (but not tokens or the larp paper things), to steam.
Then they should offer everyone an extra, exclusive, hat if they play on steam launch weekend.
My previous comment was just poking fun at Zadek. I don't care about the money. I'd gladly pay far more than $22 to play a month of Haven on steam. But my desire to play Haven on steam is secondary to the steam launch being *a success* and I absolutely acknowledge this is a path to likely defeat not success.
TBH, they are garbage at explaining things.
What they should have eluded to is the fact that steam is separate from W15, and made that clear.
And if this is the case, what happens if you were to transfer all the hats over from world 15? Do the hats from W15 stay there, or are they now deleted? if not, and they later merge world 15 or world 16 with S1, what happens to the hats on the now merged worlds? They would duplicate. There would suddenly be twice as many hats. How's that gonna work?
If you say, the hats don't duplicate, then how would you keep track of them? What if you own a hat on W16, but sold that hat on S1? what happens after the merge? Does it get deleted after the merge? Or what if it's the other way around, you sold the hat in w16, but have it on S1? What if in theory you sold the hats on both worlds? Would the buyers of those hats be fine with one of their hats going poof with the goal of preventing duplicates?
In that case there is nothing they can do without causing a shitstorm. It's a lost cause.
How are they supposed to tackle this issue cleanly? The only solution is a one way hat transfer, with the previous hat being deleted. Not every player is going to want to transfer their hats to the new realm either. They may want it kept here. Which means loftar needs to design a whole new interface, which he may or may not be able to do in a month.
Well, he's made his bed, so I guess he's gotta lay in it.
Early world exploit: Put your hearthfire inside a cave, then hold shift to position a claim right in front of a cave. After 8 hours the claim will be unbreakable. Since your hearthfire is inside the cave, you can still get back inside, and leave, but nobody will be able to enter, effectively making you unraidable for the first 3-7 days. Enjoy
