The state of development of the object-controlled-objects

Postby Camigat » Fri Dec 27, 2024 7:36 am

Does anyone have any info in the state of development of the object-controlled-objects?

If thats J&L main focus right now, is it possible the next world will come after the o-c-o implementation? Duration of w12, w13 and w14 were all about year and a bit, so I was quite optimistic about upcoming w15 but it may be delayed to start with o-c-o and fix problems that may arise with it during w15.

Kinda in the dark here and just want to listen to what you guys know or your thoughts on that matter. :)

Loftar admitted on a stream that he has no idea how to do it.

I'ma be real while we're on the topic: Will it meaningfully change the game?

I don't think it will outside "neat" factor for long term players. It can't really interact with any of the meaningful mechanics. PvPing between ships? Haven combat is about space and running. Bridges? Neat but they don't really change the game. Moving platforms in dungeons maybe?
Lucky: haven is so quirky
Lucky: can be so ugly, can be so heartwarming

Well I think OCO opens the door up for a lot of new systems entirely actually. Loftar has mentioned before that haven was meant to have a "modular building system" and that pocket dimension buildings were always meant to be a temporary solution. I assume player made modular buildings with multiple floors that you can stand/build on, or on scaffolding behind palisades etc. is dependent on object controlled objects somehow. It could also maybe lead to multi-animal wagons and possibly fording rivers on wagons with rafts as suggested by jorb in an old update thread. It's hard to say how much it could improve the experience but I don't see how it could make it any worse either.

I will literally cum buckets when I step on a bridge.

There are several rivers in my area where i would really love a bridge to bring a horse over.

Terramorphing sounds better
Dig a river
Change river direction
More acceptable coastline for the ships if to dig it
Destroy high Q clay spot hahaha
Build a stone paved road but hard to destroy
Make your own pool at the backyard )))
Breed the fish in artificial small lakes at your base

Who even wants bridges anymore? Its just gonna be abused to hell, never properly utilized and ignored by the majority of the community. Or, they're gonna be so hard to build to prevent exploits and river blocking that, they might as well not exist. I have no faith that in the current state of the game OCO's aren't just gonna turn into a shitfest.
