Meanwhile - in world 16

Postby Granny » Sat Dec 13, 2025 7:25 am

I miss the markets, and the realm chatter. Other than that I am thoroughly enjoying myself in this much quieter and slow paced world. I even managed to get hold of a rock crystal and can build a charterstone. Why? I have one that wants to visit, and maybe others want to trade. It is nice to have a secure spot for that. I have even managed to experience the rat dungeon and got myself a nice crown! It took me a week to defeat it, and I used two characters alternating between them. It was great fun. Maybe I can even manage another dungeon before this world is over. Awesome!

If you still play W16 and want to have someone to talk to when you are farming etc. , send me a PM with HS and I`ll add you if your posting history is ok. Note - I am in CET euro time.

I do not think I will ever go back and start over again in whatever world it will be. I continue to pay and play W16 for as long as it exists, and after that it is over I think. I know many players like that reset. I do not. Instead of subscribing, I am now using up my game tokens , since I do not know how long this world will last.

What I do not understand is why Jorbtar does not offer more clear options when a new character has to decide world. Why not spend a few lines there describing what each world now represents? There is an opportunity there to lead new players into something they might enjoy, and in peace, and through that be ready for a new world.

Cheers!

This a great to read, sounds like w16 could become an RP/casual server without actually losing any PVP functionality.
I wonder what people could build with that in mind? I might like to make a furniture warehouse with all the abandoned stuff to be found :) It could potenially addresses the complaint some players have about miss-progression and 'free stuff' laying around.

If it survives long enough, we may finally see nature reclaiming the ruins, which would be fantastic.

So people who choose to stay at world 16 are they taking over it? Imagine world 16.1 ends and we come back to a single realm on world 16.

Ooo yeah - but it is like that already. Sort of.. With all the ruins of old societies one can come across during travel.

I think it is already happening. Grass coming up between paved land etc..

Could ensure the realm chat stays alive at least.

Let's make humanity's dream come true, let's unify W16, a single people in brotherhood, peace and harmony, and a single chat!

What H&H teaches us is that to get rid of the scumbags, we need a distraction.

How about we create a permanent W16 trade fair?

Since the pop is low, we can't count on individual traders stepping out to keep economy going (because there is noone left it seems). If we organize a fair at a central location, near some Thingwall, this would help consolidate the remaining pop and bring some trade, which is always fun. Maybe right now there is not much need, with all that free stuff laying around, but when it rots away the trade can become more important. Besides, it can be spot for socializing and giving out free stuff, also a place to make deals and start hunting parties.

Technically, maybe create this not as a village, but an area with several independently owned plots where stalls etc are installed. This way it will keep going.

I could organize such an undertaking, but I lack experience and military backing when inevitably the place gets sieged down. So it is doomed to fail eventually, even if only because of the fact that I am the person running it, which is enough for some people to siege it already.

Thank you so much for the interest! Regarding raiders concern, the place can be run and be visited by alts specifically created for trading, and the individual plots can be used as only spots for stalls, storage and marketing purposes (or maybe just as a way of showing that "I am here and I belong to this thing") - so any losses will be controlled.
Besides, pvpers also need a place to trade, so they'd be interested to keep the place alive.
We can also gang up together and punish individuals who decide to ruin the fair, by raiding them back.
In the worst case scenario, if it becomes too dangerous, we can just use the place to make quick deals and then run away until it gets calmer. Raiders can't just camp there indefinitely and if someone is waylaid - welp, that is reality of medieval trade, too.
To keep the place alive, we can build (eventually) not one, but a few charterstones close by, so even if one gets knocked out or deactivated, the location won't be lost. Building near Thingwall closer to the center (as possible) of the map, would help to quickly find the place and rebuild if necessary.

I can't build a charterstone atm myself, but can refund some of the costs, and help with subsequent construction once it is up.

Trade is fun, helps to get quality stuff faster, and a little bit of socializing is necessary even for the Hermits! And we can have actual wealth, not just "stuff".
