Is it worth to engage in the game?

Postby Mireki » Wed Jan 14, 2026 12:40 pm

Hi everyone,

I'm considering diving into this game, but before I invest too much time into it, I wanted to get a better idea of what to expect. It looks great in screenshots and videos, but I'm curious about a few things:

- How engaging is the PvE content? Is it challenging and rewarding, or does it get repetitive over time?
- Player Population: I've heard the player base is relatively small—does that mean the game is dying? Are there a lot of bots, or are players still actively engaged?
- The game is in early access, but is it still actively being developed? Is the dev team committed to improving and expanding it? Also, given the price (verification + subscription), do you feel it's worth the investment for early access?
- How newbie-friendly is the game? Are there good guides or an active community to help newcomers?
- Are there any major game-breaking bugs that more experienced players are exploiting, or is the game mostly stable?

I’d appreciate any insights from those who’ve been playing for a while. Thanks!

- How engaging is the PvE content? Very engaging and depends on your playstyle.
- Is it challenging and rewarding, or does it get repetitive over time? It's challenging, rewarding and very repetitive.
- Does that mean the game is dying? No.
- Are there a lot of bots? No.
- The game is in early access, but is it still actively being developed? Kinda. Devs tend to disappear from time to time.
- Is the dev team committed to improving and expanding it? No.
- Also, given the price (verification + subscription), do you feel it's worth the investment for early access? Yes.
- How newbie-friendly is the game? Depends on your IQ. If you can learn by doing and experimenting, it's very friendly. If you're dumb and need guides and tutorials - not at all.
- Are there good guides or an active community to help newcomers? Yeah, check the wiki and (un)official discord (cringe).
- Are there any major game-breaking bugs that more experienced players are exploiting? Yes.
- Is the game mostly stable? Also yes.

1. the PVE Combat is Cheesed. the Hunting is actually worse then its predecessor. The other aspects of the PVE, ie farming, cooking, animal care taking mining etc, become VERY grindy and repetitive.

2. Game never really is not dead, but that is from a point of view. Yes there are bots, and the active players, well. . again from a point of view. Do Not be suprised if A. you never see another person, or B. you get killed in the first day. It's all about where you spawn.

3. Game gets updates. for instance the last update and basic dev activity was back in December. Before that was Back in June 2025. you can see this here: viewforum.php?f=39 And I do not feel this is worth the investment.

4. The game is not newbie friendly and the Forums are a cesspool. you have been warned.

5. Yea there are some bugs, there always have been and there always will be. The Devs have a hard time bug squashing so to speak.

Please note that the current development cycle is completed and the next patch will be in ~4-6 months, depending on when most the subscriptions run out. (If we're lucky)

Hi Mireki! It's always great to welcome new people to the Haven and Hearth community :)

Where did you first hear about the game? Please provide your answer in the form of a haiku.

After playing so many shit new release flop games lately I'm start to think actually haven is kind of a decent game. You would think it'd be outdated but it's not even like gaming has progressed at all in the past decade. It arguably regressed if anything. Some of the latest sandbox games are just total dogshit lol.

If you have never played HH and you are old school. You will really like it. You will put hours into it for sure. Then days, then weeks, then months. It definitely has a "burnout" point, but it takes a while, hence why the worlds reset every year.
