Keep coming back to Haven and Hearth

I am pretty sure devs created an amazing niche that is too addicting.
Sometimes get burned out and bored of this game, so I do try other games, but my god they are lacking when comparing to Haven and Hearth. Tried Xsyon, it was okay, but Haven and Hearth still has best crafting and building menus, like items that you can craft need to be discovered (not for all as sometimes buildings with rope are available, even though I haven't crafted rope yet) in order to do them, unlike Xsyon and many games like it, it gives you a huge list of items and have fun figuring out what you can or can't do.
Then tried unreal world, found out I can't take stuff from a tree (stuff as in picking branch, bark, bough and others), just like how you can in haven and hearth, again Haven and hearth is better.
Did try out 2D/pixel games like Terria, maybe to get that legacy feel of it, but nope haven and hearth 3D look is just better, also terraforming is better than minecraft, none of that endless digging into a planet's core/lava/magma stuff, it's there, limited, but make sense. Sandbox enough, if you get what I mean.

So keep seeing a theme here that Haven and Hearth is a game that once you tried it, you won't find anything as good as it. Either the discovery system won't be in other games or simple interaction with the world will be limited in other games, no chiping boulders or picking stuff from tree, you can only mine the boulder like in don't starve or cut down trees, none of that extra bits of resources from a tree.

Share your experience of trying to find or play another game, but soon realising, that yep haven and hearth is just better.

I've been playing on and off for years. I used to think perma-death was the special ingredient, but the changes to inheritance have made death less punishing, and the game is still fun for us LARPers. The real secret ingredient is the time investment required to make any kind of progress.

I switch between this and OSRS. After losing a character here, it's nice to have a couple of months off to play a game where your progress can't be deleted by another player. But then I find myself missing the charm of Haven.

I hope this game has many more years to come.
Howdy!

Last bunch of so called new releases I've tried recently: apogea, darkfall, ashes of creation, dreadmyst and some1 trying convince me play a shitty new wurm unlimited server. So yeah with gaming being in gutter haven is somehow starting to seem like a modern well made game lol. Wat else am I even supposed to play? Some shitty 12th expansion of world of warcraft? Boring

I've been playing for 15 years and I'm gonna play at least another 15. There is just no other game like Haven. The game's philosophy and the community suit my pathological taste very well. Tried the same stuff as the poster above mentioned, didn't like any of these games, they are shallow and soulless. Hytale seems fun, but I'm already feeling the ich of a coming burnout.

I can only hope that Anvil Empires will eventually feel better than Haven to me. And i really say "feel better" because i doubt it will objectively be. Im hoping that the constant action will make me enjoy it more, but i doubt it will ever be nearly as good in the sandbox aspect.

noticing my haven play requires coffee, without it I can barely farm them turnips, with coffee I go mining, sailing, building, but the ultimate haven endgame is modding some random feature

I desperately require a more laid-back version of H&H... I've played so many survival games but nothing fills the same niche H&H does. I just can't be bothered with the permadeath and PvP anymore, so I just tune into the forums every couple months to see what they're up to.
The gameplay aspects that made me fall in love with H&H have absolutely nothing to do with permadeath and PvP, so I strongly believe there's a place for a different version of the game, but alas I don't think that'll ever happen, which is fair, it's their game to develop however they like.
Hope you have a great day

Same, I keep coming back every couple years to check if there is finally a private server version haha. I am at a stage in my life where I don't have a lot of spare time, so need games that can work around my schedule. Loved my time with H&H and would love to play a chill pvp-lite version with friends in the same position in life as me.

This.. however I must say that W16 is nice now, just nice exploration and not too much pvp drama as that is all moved over to W16.1, however on the otherhand not much interaction anymore with other players as no markets are active anymore.

So yeah will keep playing this game on and off..
