I'm suspecting user error, too, but if not, I've PM'd the devs about it.

No, they weren't full. I just decided to suck up my losses and go out to scavenge for more materials to make a new one.

Lock tooltip says if it's already "attuned to key", double-check that next time.
The most actively maintained Haven and Hearth Wiki (Not guaranteed to be up-to-date with all w14 changes.)

Keyrings are prime suspects when keys go missing.

I've had a couple of reports like these over the years, and, idk. Difficult to debug.
