This has to do with wild trees growing larger than their base size. Past a certain size, wild trees also give more product (i.e., branches, boughs, seeds), and when felled, drop more logs. Wild trees quality also scales with their size.

I don't think hearthling-planted trees grow past 100%.

Posting a follow-up question to another discussion regarding competitive play, in this thread, instead (so as to avoid completely derailing that other topic):

Is it true that dying results in a net positive for character development? If so, how? It seems that this claim revolves around a more or less controversial old feature, 'A Prayer for Strength', which was changed/nerfed back in March of 2018, and yet I'm still hearing this rumor in 2026.

In light of the 'competitive play' discussion, if there is even a 0.5% net increase in stats, I would like to know about it. Thanks!

I think one of the biggest changes to "there's an incentive to intentionally kill your character" was the "hungercide fix" that made it so Inheritance percentage also applies to your ancestor's Hunger (Appetite) bar.

It's a less than ideal solution - 90-99% of people didn't really "abuse" the fact that hunger wasn't inherited, even the "hardcore PvP community" considered the few people, who took advantage of it, poopsockers.

AFAIK it's not a terrible change for most people. It would be fair if their hunger was reset to mitigate the lost progress, but as explained above, sometimes we just can't have nice things. The real fly in the ointment is the edge cases of some nawb devouring food with horrible inefficiency (honestly, much harder to do after the big FEP/Hunger rebalancing of w15(???)) and it would be better for them to start building a fresh character.

Does anybody know how the chair hunger reduction math works? Royal Throne to be precise, that q52 piece of schist only reduces from 38% (symbel alone) to 36% (symbel+chair) and that isn´t even the hunger reduction of the q10 recipe (6%)

there's some math behind the percentages. It lowers it by that percentage from the current percentage or something like that. Otherwise you'd be LOSING hunger rather than gaining it when you eat, with all the symbel + table + chair together. You'd go down from 100% to like -500% hunger modifier
