Regarding Credo usefulness for hermits

Postby YellowGhostoMain » Tue Aug 04, 2026 3:23 pm

I've been theory crafting and I would like an input from more experienced players- regarding what Credos are even worth pursuing as a hermit. The list is in order of priority, I will ignore Credos with zero or one dependency, since they will be needed in some way or another. Please do tell me if I missed something or if my observations are off the mark.

Tier 1-
Gem Hunter and Pearl Diver - Essentially the only must have Credos, large gems and pearls are a staple for commerce, you can trade them easily on big markets for better quality tools that would otherwise take you a lot of time to grind alone.

Tier 2-
Miner, Strider, Mystic, Nomad? and Gardener - Quality of life Credos, speeds up some aspects of industry, in theory makes the game more """"fun"""".

Tier 3-
Lumberjack, Potter, Cook, Tailor and Scholar - Gives more quantity or quality of resources that for the most part can be offset by having wider industry setups, they are really strong if you are ahead of the grind curve, but limited if you are not. Can be outshined entirely through commerce in some cases.

The higher tier Credos have too much dependencies and fall into the same problem as Tier 3 Credos when it comes to improving industry. Not worth the grind.

Forager followed by a full-blown "omg how many alts am I going to need for this crap??" existential crisis.

How many alts you are willing to make certainly factors in to what Credo you can rush, but I am focusing on general utility.

The bonuses you get at least sound good, granted I never got to 400+ stats to have a feel how it performs then. You can buy old gear from big villages, two months in they are selling mid tier pieces with 10+ glindings for cheap.

I do same credo every world, forager hunter lumberjack quarrymen miner but I usually give up by start of miner

4 of the easiest credos that give the most stats for ppl who hate credo like me. I especially hate fisherman

I would say miner is essential for hermit and a farmer/tailor alt

If ur whole focus is on market gem and Pearl is 1 niche but there's plenty others. U could go for chef and sell food or do mass wax or silk

Unless they fix garden pots for 16.2, it's a horrible credo. Garden pots work at same speed as a normal world unlike the rest of the game.

tailor is worth it. my farmers always pick up tailoring and pottery.
blacksmith credo tree is a must. you get miner and lumberjack with it. all three are essential for a hermit.
guess my noob non-trading hermit gameplay has no space for pearl diver or gemhunter.

i never picked up herder. bonuses do not seem appealing to me.

IMHO, and my favorite way of playing - is Nomad first on every single alt (miner, crafter, fighter, hunter) besides credoless utility (eyes, doors, keyholders, siege alts, lurers, flag planters, I even had "realm king" alt, but just once - and that's not for hermits). After that you stack credos according to your alt purpose. "Main" alts like crafter and fighter usually get as well Scholar after Nomad (gardener being a bitch... but if you prepare the damn pots ahead, it's not that bad) - which is just important to get ASAP (later it will be super hard). And I think last playthrough I even got scholar to miner and hunter as well, because Im crazy like that... and because I had too many pots anyway, heh.

I played both as hermit and in large villages, and my approach is basically same, just as a hermit you need a lot of time to pay attention to too many things at once, which just... makes you burn out fast.

Being a hermit doesn't mean you need to have just one alt. With a single alt I played only on W5... and never again. So, pick credos accordingly to the tasks you do, that's it. Like idea of pearl diver? Well, make a dedicate alt for that, easy.
