difference is you literally wipe someone progress before palisades are up, its much more punishment.

But what I'm not getting is everyone has the option to do this, that's why the change was made. Because openly on the forums multiple teams have been asking for it to be reverted.

It just sounds like, as long as they're paying attention, anyone can do it. And if they're not, well I guess it's the true spirit of haven to learn obtuse nonsensical horse shit for the sake of progression/survival, and if you don't then well... GG? I've got work in the morning tho. That's my 2 cents.

Well know and abused tactic by big villages for few worlds to raid spruces around without any risk. Devs are clueless about it

Good thing to share it. Big groups like ours could probably just buckle up and defend our leather until a palisade or split up to so many edges of the world someone would get their leather done without a grief anyways. This helps spruces that might just quit if their day 1 base is raided and their progress reset.

Common response is that somehow this was an open secret known to everyone and their grandmother. Poor sprucecap has no other way to keep his leather safe. Any post complaining they can't acquire leather is a psyop.

Personally, I did not know... When I occasionally saw a claim pole block a cave entrance, I thought it was just out of spite and griefing. I didn't know you can fidget your way out of the totem's hitbox.

This is very similar to when complaint was raised about "cupboard stacking" and certain user immediately implied that casual players build and bask towers all the time to stack cupboards, and gain more out of it compared to someone who can make a "warehouse bot." (Note, this was before Stone Towers required steel, which may be an indirect nerf to this strategy.)

(More "elegant" fixes have the downside of adding significant server load if every cupboard, every time its opened, has to check if some other hitbox is overlapping with it.)

Is it tho? I think this actually helps smaller groups more than the big ones, the big ones are the ones worth digging into, and they are also the ones more likely to be able to defend their shit without it due to having ppl from multiple timezones. Then there is the argument about cave blocking not being known by ppl, yeh ig that's right, but it's also true for most intended mechanics (not saying this one is intended, just saying it solves the issue of fences not being a defense AT ALL since ppl can easily get vandal day 1).
