Boulders on the surface are node-based, and said nodes are very large. My area has strictly basalt, porphery and dolomite boulders. If i travel around 10 minimaps south, granite boulders start appearing.

Underground, however, all stones are completely randomly strewn throughout the world. Boulders on the surface are no indication nor limitation on what might be below them. Just start strip mining until you find some. Make sure you keep any boulders you get from mining. If you're doing quarryman/miner credo those will be invaluable and even if you aren't you can easily sell them to other players. (well, actually, maybe not this late into world, but my point stands)

Do you know if the stonepatches and L1 below share stone type node? I can say anecdotally that I've tunneled under a stone patch and the rock matches what can be quarried above.

That i can't say. Mineral nodes on one level have no affect on nodes on another, so if stonepatches just use the same nodes as underground walls, that would suggest not, but logic would tell me that digging under a stonepatch of hornblende would result in more hornblende.

keep in mind you've got the new tunnels. the wiki says they have a "radius" of 1x4 tiles but that's not true, it's actually just the 4 tiles in front of them. so for 1 bar of metal you can get 40 tiles of travel with a timber tunnel as opposed to the 9 tiles of travel with a wooden mine support.

With the new world coming I need a refresher/clarification on some things:

- Does perception affect ranged combat? Does range between shooter and target affect damage? Does more marksmanship means more damage or should I just match my bow's quality? Video guides and wiki are conflicting.

- What's "Learning ability" and how much do I need to be worth the pursue? For example is early game 2 white ring better than 2 darkroot rings? Answered

- At what satiety/hunger should I stop eating for maximum efficiency? Answered

- Do I need wine making to plant and get grape seeds from primitive crops? What about pipeweed skill for pipeweed?

- Can I paint a village banner after building it? Can I destroy a banner and rebuild it without affecting the village security

- At what mine level can I start finding silver, gold and sun stone? Answered

- Wiki says max attribute for best gilding chance is 400. So is calculation for gildable clothes of multiple stats in the formula additive or averaged? For example to max gilding chance for hunter shirt, do I need my sewing+survival+perception to be 400 total or 400 each?

- Is there a way to switch animal aggro in coop hunts? Answered

I am not a professional bow hunter nor ranged pvper, but i do know that both Perception and Marksmanship play a role in damage, as the PER and MMS of the archer is compared against the AGI and MMS of their target to determine damage. I don't know if PER or MMS can augment damage, or only serve to lower it if you don't have enough, but you could probably test that in Valhalla, at least in regards to PvP. I don't know if animals are affected the same way since it's debatable if animals have stats the same way hearthlings do.

I CAN tell you that the sling and hunters bow are extremely useful hunting implements early game, much more so than years prior, so do consider them.

Each point of Learning Ability is equal to +0.1% LP gain. So 100 Learning Ability is +10% to all LP you get. It's not worth it to try to spec into, no, just enjoy it if you happen to have it.

- At what satiety/hunger should I stop eating for maximum efficiency?

That's greatly debatable but unless you're really tryharding just don't let if fall very far below 200%.

- Do I need winemaking to plant and get grape seeds from primitive crops? What about pipeweed skill for pipeweed?

WWWs can give anyone any seed available in the world, but you need their corresponding skill to plant or harvest grapes or pipeweed. Keep in mind WWWs are not a normal forageable anymore, they only spawn once domesticated plants start getting grown.

- Can I paint a village banner after building it? Can I destroy a banner and rebuild it without affecting the village security

Never considered this one so don't know sorry

- At what mine level can I start finding silver, gold and sun stone?

3, 5, and 5 respectively, assuming it's not changed for 16.2. The wiki does document this.

This i also can't say for certain, sorry.

There are three ways to make an animal switch its focus; touch them, damage them, or shoot/throw something very close to them.

I am planning for W16.2 so we wont see any www for a little while. My concern was if I would lock myself out from obtaining grapes and pipeweed from premative crops if I don't unlock the respective skills first before farming premative crops.

I see them now in the ores page column, sunstone even has it on it's own page. Don't know how I missed them.

As far as I know, distance does not factor in to marksman damage. Bows have a range of eight tiles, and you cannot hit anything on a tile adjacent to you. Damage is a function of marksman skill, q of bow, q of arrows, and defence stats of target. (Best thing I learned about marksman is never aim at the animal, bring up the grid and aim at the tile the animal is on; this also helps judge that eight tile range.)

You do not need winemaking to plant and harvest grapes, which you can then eat or place in herb benches to make raisins. You will need winemaking to build and use an extractor and demijohns.

Once you harvest pipeweed you should get the ability to dry and grind it. Same with hemp buds, though they don't need grinding.

if you're in combat with them you can also click on their portrait.

i'm like 80% sure you need winemaking to at least plant them.

that's definitely wrong. you need Pipes & Pipeweed to unlock the recipe to grind them.
