There is an irc quote from him somewhere that says it is true for attacks, I think its very likely the same for blocks.
You need to be in a position to execute whatever the discovery is, basically - atm means equipment and IP requirements must be satisfied.

How does treeplanter's pot work? Since for me I can't get mulberry sprouted, not even once after 8 or more trys.

The nature skills that give bonus tree sprouting chance are really useful. 8 seems a bit unlucky, but you're putting dirt/water/seed in the pot and then leaving it on a herbalist table right? And you get dead everytime? That's just bad luck if so.

do you have any set of curiosity you use at each stage of the game? for example, right now with 30 int i keepa mirkwood offering, a feather trinket, a still live, a wooden doll, an emerald dragonfly, a lady mantle and pine cows, and i refill them as much as i can, also change it when i get other rarer curios, such as toadstools and uncommon snapdragons. Would you say this is optimal? also as your technology advance, such as getting metal or cheese, what other curiosities should i keep in mind?

The curios you use are going to depend heavily on quality of items you can find or craft, and your willingness to source some of the harder to get or make ones. All anyone can answer to that question is "it depends" or give you hypothetical situations. There's a listing of curios stickied in the How Do I? forums along with the food items. You should be able to get a list through the Ring of Brodgar wiki, though I'm not sure it is 100% accurate (should be close enough for the most part. Not many old curios got changed.) Use those lists to figure out what is best for you based on the amount of time you play and how long you're going to be offline

I'm not sure I agree 100% on that magic (quality and availability being the key issues), but the answer gets pretty complex since optimal has to do with your int level, your material availabilities, and your playtime. And the recent curio patch further changes how that whole system interplays.

In fact I haven't been playing since that recent curio wear thing, as a result the balance of curios has shifted significantly (I think). But it used to be dragonflies, mirkwoods and glimmermoss that make up the best foraged curios. Seers bowls and abacus were the best metal curios. And the farmed poppy/straw doll were staples as well.

Keep those ones in mind, but as magic said since the variables depend a lot on your specific point in the game you'll want to check through your options.

It got pulled same day, maybe next day. Sad because I think it might have been somewhat useful for more casual players that don't use a script to swap out curios on a timer.

Otherwise, yeah, there's a few easily foraged curios that are considered primary, such as dragonflies, but the rest are "as you have access to". Glimmermoss definitely is not an early or mid game curio given the PER*EXP score needed to find it. (Well, maybe mid game if you are pushing those scores for foraging and tracking.)

I had a boar tethered to a hitching post, but it de-spawned after 24 hours. Is that supposed to happen? If it's on a timer can it be reset by leashing and tethering it again?

Couple possibilities:

A) there's been the odd report of animals vanishing. Possibly there's a weird bug hiding in the code that hasn't been found.

B) Someone aggroed it and caused it to vanish because they didn't complete the hitching fight. This is a non bug situation, but I'm not sure how possible it is (depends on your living conditions).
