I checked the geometric average for my stuff, it's still off. That is, unless there is something more than kiln_q and block_q that I haven't taken into account.
I had a chance to check now and to be more precise using q10 blocks in a tar kiln that is 110 86 95 (97.5 avg) produces 35 29 31 coal (32 avg)

Well that pretty much matches the geometric mean. Mine's off by 1 or 2q, but it's close enough. I'll put it on the wiki. Thanks Kaios.
I think it's made of bubbles and hate.

Fratari wrote:I found a problem with the tar kiln page. The page states the coal quality is that of the boards or blocks, softcapped by the tar kiln quality. This is not true based on the batch of coal I just made:
According to the wiki, coal should be quality 10 10 10. The results don't follow the sqrt(Kiln_q*Block_q) formula either. Does anyone have any insight?
CoalQ=(KilnQ+3*WoodQ)/4
Same as in old haven, this is consistent with your data
ricky also created a new start page (which he just sent me by PM) - so do not wonder when it looks different later today ... would be great if you take a look at both and post your opinions and suggestions ...

Too bad there's neither a Mallard nor Mallard Drake page yet
A reminder for everyone. Remember to contribute the wiki. If you don't know how to. At least submit your information in this thread or in discuss section of wiki.

The main reason I linked each guide separately was to fill out the page with an even 8 guides so the boxes could be symmetrical.
and to explain some of the logic behind my actions: I removed a few guides (for example, cheese, wrought) because by the time any player gets to this stage in the game, I would have to believe they are already very familiar with both the game and the wiki, so new players dont need that information right away.
Other guides i removed (finding string, digging a well, for instance) because the mechanics related to these have been simplified to a point where it doesnt need explanation.
I removed the {{outdated page}} message at the top because i feel all relevant article have either been moved or updated. for the most part, i feel that it would distract and confuse new users who dont even know what legacy haven is. I feel that if the first message they read is "MOST of this wiki is relevant..." then they automatically have this nothing that SOME of the wiki cant be trusted.
my notes: 1. RoB Wiki isn't just for new players but for all - thus other mods and me always favored to have certain stuff straight on Startpage too like cheesetimes
2. As long not every page is checked for haven or hafen relevance it's neccessary to have a reminder about at Startpage - and to all new hafen players that thinks "aw sux haven is obsolete nobody plays - hafen is the thing": there are still people playing haven - and even some jumped in lately ... and it was the haven players that created the RoBWiki over the years ...
3. I don't think every HowTo at forums needs it's own entry - that's one of the reasons why there is a stickied sample thread leading to them at forums. More important is to link ppl to WT and custom clients (Shadow was one of those pointing me that is not easy for New players to find their way through the forums jungle straight away ...)

What are your opinions ?!?
Thanks borka
to address your concerns: 1. Yeah, I understand the convenience of having quicklinks to certain industries, and I wouldn't really mind having them back. I do however feel they are out of place on the main page. Perhaps a separate page with links to certain late game industry guides such as silk farming, tree planting, wrought, and cheese.
2. again, i wouldnt mind this being on the main page, but certainly not in all red and definitely not at the top of the page. Those users who still play haven are (usually) not new players, and should already know to navigate to legacy pages when searching for haven-specific info.
3. and finally, yeah, i agree that not every HDI guide needs to be linked. certainly there are better links which could be put in those spaces, such as a link to custom clients*. I mostly filled that section with HDI links to pill it up with an even 8 links to make the boxes symmetrical.
*If we do however add a link to the custom clients, i feel it necessary to create a disclaimer that custom clients are third party and not dev supported
Do you need special permissions to add things to the wiki ?
I signed in and typed up a whole huge page of stuff but it would not let me save it. I guess cause it was a legacy page.
If you PM me with how I can post stuff for review to be added, I am willing to help with stuff. I need something to do on my other monitor while I fish anyways and my video poker game is getting boring. I will let you know in advance though that I am technologically retarded, so try and be basic when you explain to me how to do something.
