A big group can do it regardless of if you are in a cave or if you have a fence because they have both the means and reasons to mine to you if cave, and vandal to bash the fence if not.

The point is, if there's no safe caves then groups that go around fucking with other people have the potential to get fucked back.
This change doesn't allow that, it allows said group to fuck with people with impunity without any fear of retaliation because their little cave is acting as a pseudo-vault for the early game.

Large groups specializing in early attacks are very afraid of being left without ultimate protection. They understand that without this protection their chances of repelling an attack are small. They like to attack and be protected, but they do not want to get hit in return

The change that just got reverted is literally allowing blocked caves again. No amount of downplaying you spew is going to change the fact that groups operating from blocked caves can kill with impunity. You've just said yourself that for most people it isn't worth the time to mine into them, I'm not sure how you think saying that works in your arguments favour.
Blocking caves is cancer, you can now put claim poles at the entrance of caves all over again. Shit change.

The point is, you wouldn't even need to jump through those hoops if caves were unblockable to begin with, which is what was changed to make it impossible.... and then reverted to make it possible again.
