This discussion is stupid. Props to bob dole for making a post teaching about this exploit.
But saying that it should be removed because the evil pvpers want to use it to kill the innocent hermits is just more senseless propaganda.
I despise this exploit, but its undeniable that at the early game, its pretty much impossible to defend yourself otherwise, having this will allow anyone(even hermits) to have some security on day one.
May i remind all these schizos that want this removed that those "large groups" are the ones that are capable of rushing rage on day 1, and hermits are not.
Should we also remove rage? Should we remove LP altogether?
What about instead y'all trying to find ways to balance the early game so that these exploits are not necessary anymore?

Are the evil pvpers in this room with us?

Rage rushing is a non-issue, the only people who get fucked by the ones rushing rage are people who don't know how to fight. Last time I was aggro'd early on by someone who rushed rage was like 4 worlds ago and I had much more UA than him because I didn't sink 30k of my LP into rage, so he ended up being the one to run away.

I still to this day do not see eye to eye with people who think all points of the game need to be safe.
The chaos of early game and the lack of pali's is refreshing. There should be no 'safe' areas. Use your own ingenuity to hide. People who get their leather making process disturbed have 9 times out of 10 failed to effectively navigate the early game. They go to the first cave they see which is in plain view of a river, they terraform outside of their cave and thus make it visible, they cut trees outside it.
I have not had a cave base discovered in like 5 worlds because I know how to effectively hide them but make no mistake, I am still vulnerable early on, as I should be and as should everyone else be.
Games already too safe once pali's are up, I hate that the early game is no different with this cave blocking shit.

Never should have been reverted.

We blocked most caves nearby, they just mined for a couple hours. Can't do much to stop someone who really wants to mine in.

For reference, the group who mined into us this world, we mined into last world. They knew our location, we didn't know theirs, so we got mined into.

Thanks for the thread. It was suggested to me from multiple sources that the early game was basically unplayable without this tactic, and while I don't exactly agree myself (I've never done it), I also obviously don't play particularly competitively, and as I thought it wasn't a big deal, I just reintroduced it because why not. Now that you tell me it's a controversial decision, though, I'm more than willing to remove it again, so thanks for pointing that out.

You do realize that there's like 4 moves early on, right? The rage rushers count on people going into panic mode and freezing up because they've been aggro'd when all they need to do is to calmy use their 4 moves (2 actually, you're only going to need 2, 1 if you aren't going to fight back lol...)

And get the fuck out of here with that >"muh hermits need coddling" mentality. I'm a hermit, I've just told you how to avoid being found. We don't need some 0IQ blockade band aid being the fix which funnily enough is abused more by the big groups than any hermits.
