Good day. I found a knife in one abandoned base. How to beat them? Just take it in your hand and spam punch or left hook as usual? Will the damage be stronger?

Ugh,, i guess i understand what you're asking..

In order to do damage you need to build openings - when you enter combat the openings are shown alongside the selected manouvre, next to the combat cooldown timer.

If just spamming punch, your punch will become more effective and do more damage the higher the opening is, and punch gives the correct opening for itself. Having a weapon in your hand won't increase the damage of any unarmed attacks - although other things like cutthroat knuckles do.

Eventually however, to damage stronger animals and other players you will need a finishing move and finsihing moves with weapons do vastly more damage, you dont have these moves available to you early on and gain them occasionally from defeating animals.

Agility reduces the combat cooldown and allows you to attack more often,

Unarmed combat increases the size of opening provided by unarmed attacks, and melee combat by attacks with weapons

The damage done by the attack does not depend on the ua or mc, but on the opening, so if you build an opening with unarmed attacks it doesn't matter how much melee combat you have for calculating the damge of a single hit with a weapon - it just won't increase openings much. As such, most people, so far as I am aware still, mostly increase unarmed combat rather than melee combat and only use melee weapons for doing damage not building openings (as the unarmed attacks are much better at building openings).

The damaging attack needs to be the same colour as the opening.

Thank you so much. The very principle of UA combat is known to me. I wanted to know about the fight with weapons. But since it is needed only for finishing off, I will increase the unarmed combat

Overall, UA is more complex with more options. MC is pretty straight forward.

I always advise MC for non-pvpers. A simple deck would be Quick Barrage, Full Circle, Quick Dodge, Sidestep, Jump, Zig-Zag, To Arms with a Boar spear. Great for hunting (outrange cheesing the animals from a boat), not completely useless in pvp if you're helping someone else.

Slightly more than a stone axe, but the formula hasn't been figured out yet as far as I know.

I'm not on layer 2 yet but it's probably not there either.

Snekkja requires 1 hard metal in addition to the usual costs now.

Assuming that Jorb actually changed ships like he said here, build tooltip for Knarr in that screenshot is out of date.
