Is it possible to remove the fallen rocks from a cave-in. I don't get an option to chip stones and mining doesn't seem to work.

Use destroy on them. Their soak and HP is kind of high, so use a bearcape\talisman\pickaxe if you got them.

I only find heavy earth in lv1 mining but there are places in lv1 that are too hard for me.

It heavily depends, you can get incredibly unlucky trying to mine l2 or really lucky.

my first l2 mine was dropped on coal and iron orche, took about 80 str and a q13 pickaxe to mine it slowly.

Whilst now a few weeks later, I found a mine that with a q20 axe and 188 str that on level 2 still gives the message 'you do not even manage to scratch this rock'

Just stone. If you aren't sure if something's a stone or ore, try to make a stockpile with it, and it'll either be stone or ore stockpile.

Do arrows help destroying things, for example, someone shooting at my boat to destroy it?
