Need help to start downloaded client

So I wanted to install the client manually, since the big play button above asks me to select a program (I've tried firefox and Java itself, no results) and as soon as the minimap loads, I get a black screen. Is there a way to fix this, or what am I doing wrong with the play button above?

If it asks for a program, you need to run it with Java Web Start--javaws.exe. It should be where you installed Java at in the /bin/ folder.

Okay, I fixed it, but now I get the message "Display Radar has stopped working and has successfully recovered" and I get the same black screen.

At this point, all I can do is refer you to the bugs section. There's several issues there causing a frozen screen, network issues, or another problem where the map and game won't load.

If you're getting any kind of crash or error report, be sure to post it. If you can get a screenshot, that may help.
