Rabbits 2sanic4me

Postby Jacobian123 » Mon Aug 31, 2015 9:07 pm

How do I catch rabbits? They seem way more fast than they used to be. Is there any good way to catch them, or do I just have to have a bucket with me to drink to refill my stamina so I can run as fast as it?

They run at like 2.5 speed so if you can move at speed 3 (run) or 4 (sprint) then you can catch them. Walk near them, switch your speed up, and you should be swimming in rabbit.

Speed 3 does nothing; when I've tried several times before at that speed, they always get away. Speed 4 just gets me nothing with a low stamina as well.

Would archery be an option?

archery is an option, iirc rabbits die in one hit even if your mms/perc is awful?
don't count out hunting them by hand just yet though, helps loads if you're in a biome where you can speed 3 for a good amount of time.
It is nice to rest your weary bones from time to time. It is nice to lay down your burdens. It is nice to have a seat.

Surely you mean 3.5. There's no way in hell you catch a rabbit at speed 3, unless you corner him or catch him running away from a fox.

It's not hard catching a rabbit, just gotta be full stamina and toggle speed 4 the moment he starts running away from you.

It's possible to outrun them at 3. Odds are you get caught on a tree or stump before you reach them though. Crawl as close as you can before running after them (make sure they just stopped) Annoying but not many other options available early.

Just like ants, rabbits can spawn with different movespeeds now it seems. Some are very fast and others are managable. The fastest I have seen would be around sprint speed

Indeed I caught one while running, but one was outrunning me while sprinting.

And I caught one who was immobile :) That one was easy ahaha

Other than getting a fox to kill the rabbit for you and finding dead rabbits like a vulture.

I found the strategy is to catching rabbits isn't too hard, just time consuming.

1.Find Rabbit
2. speed 1 crawl to rabbit.
3. Before you get "Close" to the rabbit in crawl, let him random move one more time, if he moves towards you, then go to speed 4 sprint and catch him, if he moves away, then follow him.
4. When Rabbit stops moving, speed 4 sprint to him.
5. Profit.

There are others that said you can trap a rabbit on a cliff or deep water but I had no luck. So I only catch rabbits in areas where I can sprint on. So far, now that I learned the trick, I can catch a rabbit as many times as I want if I need to. It's just not as easy in Legacy HnH as walking up to a rabbit and then going into run mode and clicking on rabbit to catch him. Now you have to sneak up on rabbits.

Shooting definitely works, but as a newbie Hearthling, you wouldn't have archery anyway.

As far as I can tell rabbits actually have two different speeds. They seem to have the speed they move at normally, as tech said it's around 2.5, but when you get too close or start to chase them they appear to increase in speed.
